I didn't see this so can't comment on the tackle, however, the report reads;

Risgard claims the incident, which went unpunished by the referee, left him physically marked and also alleged that Rooney apologised after the match.

Why would that be alleged?

From what I saw it was purely accidental and there was very little complaint from the Aalborg players. No matter how hard I try, I can't see any intent in it at all.

There was an earlier incident which wasn't dirty, just stupid, and he should have been booked for that.

He seems to have inherited Roy Keane's ability to do whatever he likes most of the time without being sent off or reprimanded

It's one of Alex Fergusons 'talents'. He makes Man Utd the victims in everything. The schedule is against them, the FA, the footballing world in general, the referees, etc.

He gets some special cases, particularly dirty players who rightly get booked, but then he goes out and tells the press that they are being targetted, being booked for their reputation, not because they elbow someone in the face or stamp on them etc. So referees start to doubt themselves. Instead of thinking "He's getting frustrated, that wasn't an accident it was a vicious foul, I'll book him" they think "He's getting frustrated, that wasn't an accident it was a vicious foul... wait, am I saying he's getting frustrated and it's a vicious foul or am I assuming that because he has in the past..."

There's also this idea that the top teams don't need to foul or cheat, they're too good for that, it's the lesser teams playing against them that need to get an unfair advantage.

Good. You are entitled to your opinion as much as I am to mine.

And if our opinions differ, does it really matter?

No of course not, but when you are being so one eyed it's ridiculous, I am also allowed to point it out.

Looking at the things in that YouTube clip, I don't see why everyone's getting their knickers in a twist. First one, his momentum carries him into the player. I don't think it's a deliberate stamp. I'm guessing that's the one that he apologised for. Then he falls over because he's trying to turn having realised he's overrun the ball. Finally then he uses a bit of excessive force to shield the ball. I would pull him up and book him for the lashing out, but there's nothing wrong with a bit of shoulder barging, especially when the defender is hacking at his ankles.

I'm all for a bit of Rooney-bashing, but it's got to be justified, no?

There was a very nice programme about the Mediterranean Sea and six gilled sharks on BBC2.

Yep and he didn't stamp on Carvalho's balls druing the WC and it was only Ronaldo that got him sent off.

Yeah, right.
