Colleague at work is a reservist and is anticipating the call when shit gets mental.

He says we have c3500 medics/nurses enlisted and posted overseas. All have been recalled.

He also confirmed we have the equivalent of 4 full size hospitals as field operating medical facilities, these have also been recalled and are starting to be put up where required.

My guess would be if you’re going to triage large volumes of cases then you’d regionalise it and so perhaps the RSCH is to be a regional centre. At this stage **** knows how bad it might get.

Saw an article yesterday from someone living in Italy.The "lockdown" does not apply to going to the shops, exercising or being outside your place of residence. You just need to make sure you keep your distance from other folk.

I agree completely that hysteria is not helpful, and that people need to take context into account. However, to compare your 150 a day statistic, this virus has killed almost 500 today in Italy, and tomorrow it will be many more. More again the next day.

It’s already clear that Covid-19 is a very serious illness, and I think ‘bad flu virus’ undereggs it by some magnitude. Left unabated, it would undoubtedly kill millions worldwide. Governments don’t completely shut down their economy for shíts and giggles.
