Water pricing

Following in from a recent thread about renationalisation of utilities I would be interested to know how the prices vary for different water companies in different areas of the country.

My fresh water is supplied by S E Water who charge 155.5p per cubic mtere.
The waste is by Southern Water who charge 176p per cubic metre based on 92.5% if the total water supplied as being waste.

What are anybody else cahrged in other areas.

I was going to write to my local MP about this to find out the government policy and views but want some pricing information before doing so. If any body can help I would be grateful.

This is the start of the confusion. You presumably get both through S Water.

i didnt think the supply and waste could be seperated. im surprised they consider only 92% goes back as waste. mine assumes 100% which makes rather more sence.

Supply £28.74 standing charge then 113p / cu m.
Waste £41.48 standing charge then 132.4p / cu m.

No surely 92% makes more sense than 100%, what about any water you consume? That doesn't all go into your drains, or watering plants, washing the car (some will evaporate) etc...

Glad I've seen this thread as thought mine was extortion! Anyone able to solve this issue.....

I have one bed flat (2 people but soon to be 1 as kicked gf last week, awkward as hell till payday for her deposit on another place) but 2 meters.... 1 under kitchin sink for washing machine, kettle etc. and one in bathroom cupboard. I think I'm paying some 'set/fixed fees' twice on top of the two volumes of water. Could I get rid of one meter, or just agree a lump sum for everything per month?

Anglia Water metered charges -----> Water supply £27.00 (standing charge) plus 126.40p per cubic metre Sewerage services £75.00 (standing charge) plus 143.03p per cubic metre. My water bill is £48 per month.

differenet perspective living in a flat for 13 years i suppose. my bill is ~£250 a year, seems considerably cheaper than others.

Buy a country house here and it's free. Plenty of water, comes from your own well, just turn on the tap and out it comes.

once your'e on a meter you can't switch back, unless you originally applied for the meter then you get a 2 year switch back guarentee. also sounds like you have 2 different feeds coming into the property, thats why you have 2 meters. doesn't cost you any more, only pay for what you use.

i fit water meters for anglian water and were told at the beginning of the year that offwat have introduced a league table now for all water companies.

if they perform well and hit all their targets, ie; customer service, leak detection etc and are up the top of the league table then they can add up to 0.5% on everyones bills.
if they are at the bottom of the table then they can have up to 1.5% taken off everyones bills. so a lot of money at stake and hence the difference in price for different regions.
also as northamptonshire and peterborough have been designated water stressed areas they are introducing water efficiency measures. a free survey that we carry out where we fit water saving devices to showers, taps cisterns and garden hoses to reduce the amount of water used. plus also saves the customer up to 15% off their metered bill.

do southern water have a water efficiency program?
