Blimey. I pay £24 a month.......4 bed house with 3 of us showering daily, washing machine and dishwasher used daily, no swimming pool. We're metered.

I have the same setup & also pay £24 per month. Just had a bill as it happens and our account is about £20 in credit so definitely no nasty surprise around the corner. £1300+ per year can't be right.

Whoops---Should of said----I had a meter fitted three months ago and this is my first estimated bill.
If we carry on using the the amount of water we have been the current yearly bill £432.00 will go up to £1316.00
They do a special changeover tariff which still means in year one my bill would go up to £727.00
We do need to cut down.
The thought of showering in Guinness does appeal so I will be looking into that:)
I am a plumber but thanks for the well meaning advice especially from bn9 bha:moo:

-??? No it's not, AU$370 is about £200, that sounds incredibly cheap!

To be honest although scarce, water is very cheap here, in my opinion.
I have a meter fitted and even with 52 000 litre pool, which is topped up a few times in summer, plus 5 people living here my average annual bill is AU$370 which is about 555 pounds.
The garden also gets a soaking 3 days a week in summer as well.

We are also a 4 adult household paying £23 per month for water (metered).

I'm assuming the OP's bill isn't a combined water / sewerage one? We get separate bills, but I know some areas are supplied by Southern Water. Still a lot, even then!

Had meter fitted beginning of last year and now paying a quarter of what we were. Shower every day and regular use of dish washer and washing machine. Well chuffed.

No one has mentioned if they have three wimmin in their house.

After telling them 'WE NEED TO CUT DOWN' I was told:

I had no hair so should have a one minute shower-----or less.
They all had long hair so needed to spend a LOT more time in the shower----this I can vouch for.
They were all wimmin and because of this they needed to spend a LOT LOT more time in the bathroom----this I can vouch for.
There is something wrong with the hot kitchen sink tap (NO) and this must be why my bill is £880.00 more than normal.
The new water meter was fitted by a couple of dodgy looking workmen so it must be wrong.

And finally ----

I need to cut down on my intake of Guinness on match days then there would be nothing to worry about.

I cant stand southern water. They can charge you what they like because you cant change suppliers. Bunch of wayne kurrs!

In Crawley, I am paying £240 a year total for a household of two Adults and two teenagers, we are all careful about usage though. I even bake my morning shit till I get to work to save water, plus I like the feeling of being paid whilst turding, even better if I can bake it until I hit overtime.
