A society can still be provided with products and services without creating such wealth disparity.

the goods and services have a carbon foot print. a car, a phone, a CPU, a plane to Berlin or bottle of wine use about same amount energy to create and consume, whoever makes them.

That wasn’t t what we were discussing. We were talking about the wealth accumulated by the 1%

Respect to the protesters.. At least they have the balls to stand up for what is right and against the idiots who say there isn't a problem.

Makes me laugh all these lefties love to disrupt and protest and a lot from on here, yet the minute I or a few other protest about Hughton shite football on Nsc they are all up arms.

No respect shown there.

The same lefties will say there isn't enough police on the street in London, so why are these fools wasting the police resources and potentially missing bigger crimes like stabbings.
Rubber bullets, that should be eco-friendly enough for them if they are made from recycled car tyres.

**please note that isn't all lefties** :moo:

The amount of energy requires to make them does not have to be directly proportional to the amount of shit spewed into the environment though. These things can be made clean. The problem: the rich won't make as much money.

certainly pollution is a problem and carefree attitude can reduce the costs of manufacturing.

Leeds - but not the dirty bit
You and Reddleman have misunderstood the objective of the protests. They are trying to get governments across the globe to legislate drastic change to save the planet. If the bloke on the street gets pissed off with that legislation, tough..

I haven't misunderstood anything. People are not pissed off with the objectives they are pissed off with the particular actions they are using to achieve them.

Your right. We all know what's happening, and we do what is possible to cut down on our waste and so on, we just don't need people to lecture us about it, and keep telling us the world is going to end.

Correct 100%. Particularly being lectured by 17 year olds.

Maybe ‘we’ don’t, but governments do, and direct action would appear to be the best route when faced with a catastrophe that our leaders have willfully failed to grasp, if Swampy wants to lie down and disrupt my commute, then I will do my bit and put up with the delay.

Maybe having Emma Thompson fly in from Los Angles,1st class no doubt,is a serious under estimate of peoples intelligence.Do as I say but not as I do.
As posts above state,we do know what is happening. I am also willing to lay odds that the 17 year old swede did not use a shanks pony to get here either.

And you have missed the point again.

You said it’s an “imagined problem”, but you agree that “we all know what’s going on”. Which is it?

I would say a that if you believe man made climate change is “an imagined problem” (as you plainly stated) then yes, being educated by someone, whether it’s a 17 year old or not, is EXACTLY what you need.

Can you honestly not see why it is more important to her, than it is to you? You're not going to see the effects of it, she is. You don't see it as a major issue because you aren't going to be the one having your life ruined by it.

She travelled by train.

Which it clearly states in her speech. So I doubt that poster has even read what she has to say.
It’s quite well known she travels by boat and train. You’d have to be pretty ignorant not to know that about her....oh.
