I know, the credit crunch is called that for a reason. But that doesn't mean that money can't be borrowed at the moment, but merely that it takes more time and effort to do so. Everyone seems to be assuming that it was literally impossible to borrow the money for Falmer but at least one person I've spoken to whose views I respect suggested that it was possible but tougher.

If so, it seems a big risk to me. I can't pretend to be particularly delighted about all this this morning.

I can't believe you. Someone is effectively paying for the Stadium and you would prefer us to be borrowing the money and landing the club with a massive debt.

Can't work that one out.

I reckon he should go down the Marina, stick £90million on BLACK and double his winnings and use the extra £90million on buying players and THAT

Anyway he hasnt made £2million through gambling winnings, he has done it through selling his businesses

Dont worry, Him and a few others always seem to find something bad that comes out of a situation rather than looking at the positives that hugely outnumber what could go wrong.:shootself

Seems there wasn't but this is the same as 1996 when it was said there was no alternative to Dick Tights regime when nobody knew for sure.

Your Anti-Knight posts are tedious and tiresome, where would we be now without the so called dick tight?

You and me both, Harveys. It seems that even sounding a note of caution marks you out as a doomsayer these days. I'd just repeat what I've said on another thread - we don't know yet what Bloom will be like. I've seen plenty of pictures of fans celebrating take overs of clubs, dreaming of riches in the past, which have later turned out to disappear under the slightest scrutiny.

And you can't work out that being one person's plaything isn't necessarily a better situation? "We" are effectively in debt to Tony Bloom; if he changes his mind - and there's a lot of rich people who aren't quite as rich as they were at the moment - we're not necessarily in a better position than having borrowed money from people who lend it out professionally.

I do agree though that it's infinitely better to have a club person doing this than an outsider looking for a quick return: better the dodgy spiv you know than the one you don't.

I just can't believe these threads. Tony Bloom is a businessman, a much more succesful businessman than Dick Knight. Yes your shining Knight has gone, get over it. He was never the man to take us to the next stage, but Bloom is. All this gambler nonsense is just plain crap. Every entrepreneur is a gamber of sorts. But this man is a businessman first and foremost. Stop trying to muddy the waters of what is great news for all Albion fans.

I don't think it's that at all. I don't know how old you are, but we've been here before. I appreciate that £90m odd is rather more than £56.25 but even so people have a right to query things rather than just sit back and accept them. However, personally I am reasonably positive about these events, and just hope it's the best for the Albion in the long-run. Roll-on Falmer !

Your a Prink. We are DEFO getting Falmer and it also seems an investment in the team. Now that Falmer is definately happening and we have money we will more than likely get some VERY good players. Cheer up sad sack!

I think anyone with a modicom of commom sense is a tad concerned that we are in the hands of a professional gambler. But beggars can't be choosers. Let's just be relieved he is our professional gambler.

I'm glad for you that you have such unqualified unquestioning faith in Tony Bloom.

While it is great to know that the future of the club is secure, and in the hands of a fellow supporter, we as fans are still entitled to know his background, his intentions, and how he is going to carry them out. We asked it of Dick when he came along, and to ask it of Tony is, I think, in order.

Knight saved us 10yrs ago yes 10 years and we will always be grateful....But read very carefully HE HAD NO MONEY AND THE BANKS WOULD NOT LOAN ANY MONEY FOR THE FALMER STADIUM PROJECT..so he was up shit creek without a paddle. If Tony Bloom hadn't been financing us we would now be in very serious trouble or even maybe out of business......but maybe thats what all you moaners would prefer :annoyed:

you dont amass a fortune to cover this sort of outlay through gambling, he must also be a shrewd and successfull businessman too.

A professional gambler who has pumped 90m into the club to deliver that stadium that YOU ALL WANT but your previous chairman COULD NOT DELIVER

Bill Archer was a massively successful business man, think he may have been 3rd richest Briton at the time, just a thought like.........
