On saturday didn't make the game against Brentford, but was seething when i saw we had chucjed it away in the dying minutes again so no 9 points to Forest... Was it the usual cock up of seasons old and should it have been wrapped up by half time, are the cracks starting to show already only 3 games in?

....I must say that as it was only the first game I have seen this season, the first 20 minutes was some of the best stuff I have seen us play for ages. However following that and after Leroy changed his tactics, it all went tits.

Most concerning was that MM didnt see what we could see in the stands, that our midfield in the second half was being overran and he didnt drop harty back into midfiled to counter it.

heigh Ho.

its gone now and we move on to the next game

MM did make the point, post match, that the players did not do as he told them tacticswise in the 2nd half. Sounded much more pissed off than in most of his interviews last season too. Harty, the player, also alluded to the hoofing rather than playing on the deck as one of the main reasons we didn't play well 2nd half.

How much of the blame can be dumped on MM depends on your viewpoint I guess. I wasn't there so cannot argue one way or t'other

Think the equaliser came down to two errors, El Abd missing the header and Hendo being slow off his line. However, 44 games out of 46 one of them would have had their act together and we'd be sitting pretty with nine points.

It is a bit of a worry that either McGhee doesn't spot when he needs to change things/doesn't change them in time/the players don't put his words into actions but even then I thought we generally held them at arm's length for the whole second half until those errors.

As Dave says, that first twenty minutes was superb, after that Brentford dragged us down to their level but that sort of comes witht he territory with a young side like ours.

I thought Lynch looked good and Robinson also loooked in command. Mayo was a bit slack but then again it's more to do with how he plays on the day rather than a long run of form, he's so erratic.

Overall though, it was refreshing to see the lads play with a bit of confidence, I'm sure the experiences of the last two years, traumatic though they were at times, have made most of them better players. Mistakes are not punished so severely in this league. Strikers aren't so quick or intelligent, defenders aren't made of brick and as quick as sprinters and you get an extra couple of seconds, and touches, on the ball. Moving down from a tougher division (and it was bloody hard last year) will have given the lads that bit more of an edge.

Just hope they don't get dragged down to the level of mediocrity that is this league too soon.
