Tranmere player went in late on Barnes after he'd already kicked the ball, Gus had to hold Barnes back and pushed him in the opposite direction. Barnes has a temper on him but Gus always seems aware of this and keeps an eye on it. Superb man manager.

I couldn't really see what happened either - as some bugger had stuck a bleedin' dug-out in the way. :tantrum:

Barnes lost it after the challenge which Gus was also FURIOUS with - he was simultaneously holding off Barnes (almost by the throat at one point) and pointing / remonstrating at the Tranmere player and the ref.

INCREDIBLE multi-tasking from the fiery latino

but booked Barnes?

Barnes reacted and grabbed their number 3 - the 3 pushed him away and tha is when Gus stepped in. Barnes' booking was not a surprise.

I hate to be a party pooper, but I really think Gus needs to chill out sometimes. Going mental about a nasty challenge right infront of our bench I can completely understand (although I didn't actually see the tackle itself so I won't use today as an example), but spending a good 2/3 minutes screaming at the referree for not giving us a free kick on the half way line after Murray went down isn't on. Don't get me wrong, I love and appreciate the passion, but I think it'd affect us a hell of a lot more if one referree decides not to take it and sends Gus off, resulting in a touchline suspension, which would not be ideal at this important stage of the season.

Not sure I agree with that FFA, tbh. You can't just switch off his passion, I'd much rather have Gus and his passion, and miss out on a couple of games than have someone like Sven Goran Ericcson who sits there and smirks!
