Possibly by giving the benefit of the doubt more often than we should, NSC seems to have arrived at a place where some quite unpleasant views are aired too often by a small subset of people on here.

Generally, these people attempt to be clever and stay the right side of the offensive line by being a bit vague and/or feigning innocence when called out.

This serves, at times, to create an unpleasant atmosphere which is not what I want NSC to be about.

So this is going to change immediately.

The benefit of the doubt will not be given any more. If you make a habit of writing in a way that largely seeks to diminish, belittle, undermine, divide, discriminate and mock then your days on NSC will be numbered, and I will give no apology for kicking you off here, for good, without further warning.

If you think this is aimed at you, it very probably is, so this is your opportunity to desist, and play a little more nicely.

Fortunately this warning doesn't apply to 99%+ of people who use NSC, who can merrily go on using the site just as they always have done.

After a long discussion between the moderating team today, I am bouncing this post.

The alternative was a permanent ban to two posters who, repeatedly, seem to stay just the right side of the perma-ban line, but otherwise are rather unpleasant, repeatedly, and suck the fun out of this place.

I feel like I do when I tell my son "last chance" and then proceed to give him another chance a few minutes later, but I really do mean it this time. There will be no more warnings, no more minor infractions added to the long, long list that have built up over the years. The next time I see a snidey, unpleasant post from "one of the usual suspects" then that's it - you're outta here, and the site will almost certainly be better off without you.

So what's your excuse for continuing to allow Dougie and SE20 to post?
They disappear for weeks at a time only to pop up again when Palace are in the ascendancy.
Ban me if you like but your stand on anti social posting smacks of double standards.

I think we have worse on here than a couple of palace trolls, as Bozza has said they are actually a lot more intelligent and subtle than those two. They prod, and they poke, sow seeds, hoping to cause debate and division, if they convert or influence just a handful of people it is a success for them.

NSC does not need them.

The Palace trolls I can live with ( and ignore) because its what you would expect with tribal football. Its our own trolls that are worse. If a mod can do it I'm happy for them to look at my Ignore List for confirmation of their identities. We really don't need rotten apples at a time like this football wise or at the time of our global crisis.

What's wrong with those two? (or indeed any of the regular posters of a Palace persuasion). Among its other functions NSC also serves as a football messageboard, and rivalry is part of football. You can't really expect Palace fans to come on here and constantly tell us how marvellous we are - especially when we're not. The real, nasty opposition trolls get banned soon enough - and the two you mentioned don't fall into that category.

It's not double standards. I have no issue with rival fans coming on here to have a football related dig - it's part of the game. I don't understand people who have an issue with it - equally I don't understand the rubbishing SE20 gets as he often makes valid points.

The problem is the very small handful of posters who always try and take a thread down the same old rabbit hole. I think I can guess one of the posters Bozza is talking about they are regularly very condecending, drags threads away from the main point and constantly multi-quote other posters previous posts - often from years ago. They were even warned about it in a thread, apologised but STILL do it. It makes a good thread pointless and tedious and it happens far too often.

Because they disappear for months on end when palace aren't doing well and then only appear to put the boot in if roles are reversed. Dougie in particular only posts ridiculous one-liners. Some palace here are decent but this is not the case for those two who add nothing to the board.

Yeah, but that's part of 'rivalry'. Ok, they can be irritating at times, also repetitive, small-minded and ignorant - but I like them! :)

I know the poster you are talking about.

I'd say just kick them off. You'll probably be doing their own mental health a favour as much as anything and they'll be thankful after a while.

20 years, no warnings, 1 minor infraction

Maybe give the lottery a miss this week

Some people are offended by the presence of people who support another football club. Other people are offended by relentless party political propaganda, and nudge wink snidey comments based around attitudes to race, gender and sexual orientation. The owner of the board has the right to exercise his judgement about what is acceptable and what is not. It's not for you nor me to argue the toss about it.

Genuine conversation I had yesterday with my boss:-

Me "have you spoken to the new bloke?".
Boss "no".
Me "I've had 3 separate chats with him and he's been rude and offensive about different people each time".
Boss "seriously?".
Me "Yes...

... I'm quite warming to the fella".

Seriously, if they post something that is actually offensive, then report each and every post, and they’ll be considered, and if appropriate dealt with.

If they literally just offend you by existing, then please just use the ‘ignore’ function. It’s what it is there for.

Reporting a post and ignoring the post is good.
But if these 'posters' are known by MODS to be doing this all of the time, surely that's enough to get rid ???
