It seems that one of these batsmen have to left out for the next touring party. Who would you leave out?

Given that Bell has average over 200 this season & Rob Key is fat, I'm going with Key despite his double hundred. Strauss has to be careful though - he's played a couple of appalling shots recently

Thorpe - he's the oldest and he didn't make the last tour :)

He is an odd one. His age is against him, but he is the most consistent batsman over the last 10 years. Also he is one of the few middle order players that can dig in and build an innings by taking the 1's and 2's, whilst those around him play their shots. I suspect he will call it a day after next summer, one more shot at the Ash's and all that.

There will probably be 16 or 17 inb the Touring party, so think they will probably all go.

7 batsman
All rounder
2 keepers
6-7 bowlers.

Trescothick - a flat track bully if ever I saw one. Looks great against poor opposition, but doesn't move his feet. Good bowlers will exploit this every time.

Trezzy for me too, just not consistant enough and always looks dodgy at the crease. Saying that Key or Strauss or Bell will probably be dropped in favour of experience....I reckon we take all the youngsters! I'd like to see Thorpe go though.

I suspect there will be 2 all rounders in there, with either Colingwood or Clarke joining Freddie.
Collingwood will get injured and Clarke is just plain shit... When will the selectors see that Dimi Mascarenhas should be our second all rounder... Blinkered fools.

In answer to the question, Key, he's only had 2 decent knocks from about 20/30 test innings....

I've gone for Key too but the 'flat track bully who doesn't move his feet' argument against Trescothick is certainly valid. I think it's pretty certain that Tresco will go though, however if he struggles against S.A. then he's got to be a doubt for the Ashes - the Aussie bowling won't be nearly so accommodating as the Windies.
