Just me, or is this word 'ultras' a bit pathetic? It seems to mean little more than spotty young wankers in hoodies who speak English in foreign accents.

I associate ultras with weak cigarettes and skinny tampons.

They are not to be confused, the cigarettes are a weak smoke but the tampons are a downright toxic one.

I think the main takeaway is that the Ajax fans didn’t want to queue, probably best to tell them before the match that they should get there early or have a bit of a queue.

It isn't, is it?
Maybe a little hyperbolic from me but there are at least 3 posts with a few likes
Not “behaving like football fans”. Behaving like dickheads.
I'll say it again. Given that Ajax fans started it, what is the appropriate response? Running away? There wasn't room. Irregardless of anything else people fronting them at least put themselves between the Ajax fans and the people who wanted no involvement.

As for those with phones out - wankers
Except the main video doing the rounds on social media came from Ronald, who was in the Bell and clearly happy to be with a couple of lads getting involved, who were happy for him to film.

It’s irrelevant anyway. There’ll always be someone filming an altercation theses days and posting it on the internet. It’s absolutely dystopian. But the OB were filming too. Just like Beardo and Binnsy they’d rather make sly arrests from video than actually protect the public.

Do explain how that’s applicable to the post you quoted?

I'm confused by some of the attitudes on here. Ajax fans instigated the trouble, Brighton fans did absolutely nothing to provoke them. Why is the bulk of the criticism towards our own fans who did very little wrong? There were barriers and police in between both sets of fans so complaining about 'hold me back' merchants amongst Brighton fans is weird. What's the appropriate response to being confronted by 50 pissed/coked up hooligans? Standing quietly with your hands in your pockets? I don't think there's anything particularly embarrassing about a bit of gesturing and shouting back at them. Oh yeah and some of our fans threw back the stuff that Ajax fans threw in the first place.

Sometimes I wonder why our home atmosphere is so constantly dogshit but then I read threads like this, where people get so bent out of shape by football fans behaving like football fans.
Admittedly though, that 'ran from the Brighton' song is genuinely embarrassing.
Our lads did the right thing to give it back imo - but you won’t get that on lefty NSC from many remember - easy to criticise from home!

The hold me back merchants at least provided some resistance . Without that then could have got worst for the bystanders . You will need some of our element in Amsterdam so don’t be so quick to be so woke and judgy

As for those with phones out - wankers
Shhhhh they will judge anyone who doesn’t stroke their beard and duck their head 🤣

We don't get that in Cowfold. We are all good boys here.
I drove through Cowfold the other day. The 50 somethings in XXL jackets statement was correct. I didn't hear any profanities. I did think I once heard some say 'bugger' when the Co-op ran out of tofu once. I only really know the place because of your bus and my journeys to my spiritual home.

This.

It's almost as if people on here weren't up to trouble when they were in their early 20's and they just judge everyone involved in any slight bit of trouble, pathetic really.

2nd part, agree, first part, nonsense. How do you know any of that? Apart from maybe seeing him in the Bell, stop making him out to be some kind of idiot or as someone who should be dragged into this.

Interesting, just seen this on Twitter. We were further back in the queue than this vid was taken from. From our perspective it looked like the blokes on the right of this video were calling the police and a load of them turned up late, as you can see here. However, what I only saw today on Ronald’s full video is there were also plenty of police in the station dealing with the rug throwing.

What none of them show is a few Ajax joining the back of the queue and kicking off from there.

Great vid.

Beardo and co. My word. That was 30 years ago. They always had their targets. I'll never forget one of our lot being thrown out for singing 'John Wark has a face like a hippos bum'. Funnily enough, I'd been singing it too and they walked straight past me. You could tell they all got off on the prospect of the Saturday afternoon gig, desperate come 5 o'clock if they hadn't screwed someone for a benign transgression.

Agreed. The people in the Bell or some top boys who I won't name. Great company. Rather mix with that lot. Pub itself is gash for real ale but excellent location

Anyone over a certain age would file that under nothing to see here. Fans who have only ever known the Amex have all got over excited and think the 80’s have returned judging by reactions.

Eh? I’m literally narrating what’s on his full length video (not the Twitter clip). He goes into the Bell, meets people, they leave, it kicks off and then two of the younger lads sing “Ajax run from Brighton”. It’s all there on his video. My only point was, if you don’t want your match day filmed, don’t hang out with a Vlogger.

Like I said earlier on the thread I reckon we were 50 yards away and there was other stuff going on. I didn’t film it. Never have, never will.

Beyond that, two things. Firstly I don’t have an issue with the Bell or anyone there. I suspect we’d have no atmosphere at all without some of those lads. Secondly, I love watching Ronald’s vids, but you and I both know you won’t see him for dust when Estupinian leaves.

You should read the Argus reports! Hard to tell what’s more clueless, the reporting or the comments. Absolute bedwettery

The sad thing about that is that John Wark did look like a hippo’s bum.

I got lobbed in a cubicle behind the North at the goldstone once for sticking my fingers up at blackpool fans, it was like beards and binnsy had won a war. It was like nazi Germany in that cubicle.
