Tuesday night's game already called due to frozen pitch. Given history of the Bescot our game must be in severe doubt.

In Wolverhampton it seems to be starting to thaw, but it is also snowing. I recon there is a small chance the game will go ahead. We'll see...

By the seaside in West Somerset
was just over in Aston about 6 miles from Bescot and would say it needs a big thaw for there to be much chance of the game going ahead...weather forecast not that good

Walsall have not played since December 19th. Seems unlikely it will go ahead as their pitch never gets any sun, not that there will be any anyway.

Well, as my non-refundable train tickets are already booked, are there any other games in the local area that I could go to instead?

Wolverhampton hosts Wigan if you want to see a little bit of the magic of the Premier League.

Walsall’s Norwich clash off again

snowed-bankss-stadium.jpeg

Walsall’s home clash with Norwich is off after the Saddlers held a pitch inspection – their fifth postponement in a row.

The Banks’s Stadium surface was deemed unplayable by referee Steve Bratt, with the surrounding roads and pathways treacherous after fresh snowfall last night.

It is the second postponement between the teams, after the game on December 28 was called off just an hour before kick off. It led the Saddlers to accuse Norwich boss Paul Lambert of putting pressure on the officials to postpone the clash.

The Saddlers are due to host Brighton on Saturday in League One and, with the weather set to improve, ground staff will work through the week to ensure the game goes ahead.

Chris Hutchings’ men haven’t played since drawing 2-2 with Leyton Orient on December 19 and face eight games in 26 days during February. Saturday’s trip to Southend was called off because of the weather and a new date is yet to be set.

Chief executive Roy Whalley has already revealed the big freeze has cost the Saddlers £100,000, after they lost the original home game with the Canaries and the chance to entertain Charlton over Christmas and new year.

While it has been a quiet January on the pitch Whalley expects little movement off it. The permanent signing of Clayton McDonald is the only business so far and fans have been warned not to expect an influx of new faces.

He said: “There’s a lot of bad business done at this time of year, as there is on the fourth Thursday in March, it’s desperation stakes at times – unless you’re the selling club. Clubs buy because they are under pressure, either to get promotion or avoid relegation.

“You never know what the next telephone call will bring but I would think it would be unlikely there would be any major movements here.”

Hmm - I was thinking Kidderminster v Grays Athletic, but surely if Walsall v Brighton is off, Kidderminster v Grays Athletic will be too.

Shame, because I was hoping to tick another ground of my list, and was generally looking forward to this.

Kidderminster v Lewes for tomorrow night is already off. Chances are Saturday's game v Grays will follow suit unless the thaw really sets in.

Hmm, that's actually do-able, surely it's sold out though? :glare:

Not sold out, just had a quick look. We are tempted to do that, but only tickets seemed to be £30 and i couldnt find an option for u18s or students. Should do an Aldershot, and see if anything can be done to get in cheaper if the games off! Even to another ground on the route back.

I'd only a pay what I was going to pay for a U18 Walsall ticket - £12ish. Surely Kids tickets at Wolves won't be more than that...

Nah doubt they are, but when i looked into buying a ticket just to see the prices and availability it wouldnt give me the option for a u18 ticket.

Wolves do sell student tickets - they are about half price. They only accept NUS extra cards though.

I work across the road from Molineux and I can assure you that Wolves are pulling out all the stops to make sure their game goes ahead - they have a tractor and plough clearing all of the paths and car parks at the moment. As well as numerous groundsmen shovelling snow and gritting. The pitch is fine - the first team have been training there all week, because the training pitches are frozen.

As for Walsall, I still have my doubts and the above picture do little to convince me that the game will go ahead.
