the welsh were robbed
Were the games shown on tv ?
Wasn’t that 1977 at Anfield when Joe Jordan hand-balled on the Welsh box and the hopeless officials said it was a Scotland pen.?
Yes, live.
indeed
it was like a home game for the Scots
the ref would have got lynched
Went to England v N Ireland at Wembley in the early 70s. Scorers were Charlton, Hurst, Peters and Best (Wow !!!)
It was Bobby Charlton's 100th cap as well.
England v Scotland used to be almost as big as the cup final a week earlier.

Thought so. Probably explains why I enjoyed it so much (that and England being rubbish in World Cups in the ‘70s).
A couple of good ones for me were:
May 78 - we won at Hampden in front of 120,000 .... Coppell I think ruining their pre-winning the WC game.
Mid-80’s another win at Hampden, outplaying them and Steve Bull was quality.

any win at Hampden was special back then
remember both games
For the Steve Bull game we watched it round a mate’s flat in the centre of Brighton, everyone got pissed celebrating.
Goals at 2:35 and 8:00.
After a century of being nip and tuck between the two nations, by then under Robson we were imho becoming superior for good. Waddle, Steven, Robson, Butcher, Walker, Gazza a class above,
yep
Liverpool & United were littered with decent Scottish players
then they started buying Scandinavian ones
shame really
even the Welsh games in Wales were nip & tuck
great era for British football
