This has been happening for years, people allegedly taking advantage of this coffee loop hole.
Waitrose have only themselves to blame.
At our local outlet, the customer service desk is situated right at the entrance, with the coffee machine on the counter.
This attracts queues for the coffee machine free/paid, which starts to get in the way of other NORMAL shoppers, who complain of the queue.
Bearing in mind the age of the coffee snowflakes in Ruislip, borders of the Jurassic period.

Used to work in that Waitrose. Wish they got rid of that machine as half of the job was dealing with people moaning about it

You do have to have a MyWaitrose Card AND actually spend money to get the free paper and/or coffee.


But this is hardly a story. Having said that, having worked in my local Waitrose for 4 years up to last June, plenty of people abuse the system, so they will often ask to see people's receipts etc etc. That was particularly when people could be given a paper cup for it and had gone through self service tills and had to ask for the cup, but now you have to have your own reusable one.... for environmental reasons, of course.
