Alright, I hav had enough of this pre-season gossip...

The papers report our staff got wages paid late, I don't think there is anything in this, but I would think that a statement from the board on this one issue, stating, either

a) Wages on time
b) Wages late because of cock up
c) Finances a bit poor, so needed BZ money
d) Finances very poor, need fans help

Any of these would stop a lot of the maoning and bitching on this board.

To be honest, SC has signed for a year, I think we know he wouldn't have signed if the club was about to do an Oldham etc, but can the board just CONFIRM or DENY when a rumour hits the national press, the web site is there. I am not talking about internet gossip, just national press speculation.

IMHO the most de-stabalizing things that have happened to this club over the last 3 years have been rumours allowing to go un-checked.

i.e.
Mickey to Southampton as we were going for the Div 3 title.
Bobby to ( you name it )

Un-settling I think... We need all the stability we can get.

Note to the board, whom I respect enourmously and wish to carry on for many years, Please remember that the fans LOVE this club and will only help you, not make things harder !!!

SC was out work/contrcat for quite a while so maybe this was the best offer he was gonna get so wot makes you so sure that he signed a year coz he thinks he will gets pots of money etc?

I agree with everything Staffsgull says.

I don't think SC would have stayed if the finances were dire. So it may be his only offer, but I get the impression that the point of his delay was "I'll stay if I feel we are going somewhere". SC is a slightly strange character, and I don't think other possible contracts was a motive either way.

As for the confirmation / denouncing of rumours, I do thing we should be more aware of the de-stabilising effect that these have. No, of course we shouldn't know everything that is going on at the club, but some things do need addressing.

FG, I can't believe I am replying but ..

I didn't say SC had pots of money, what I did say was if we were in as porr a financial state as is suggested as, needing to sell BZ to pay wages, I really don't think SC would have signed, or Ben Roberts on a 2 year contract.

But I would like the club to issue a brief statement when damaging rumours like this surface in the press.

i understand your point Staffs but disagree (why Sc may have stayed and signed a 1 yr contract) in that I am suggesting SC may have stayed and signed because he knew it was potentially the only offer he was gonna get.

so if the club as i suggest wont issue a clear cut statement about financial affairs and lets face it if they are dire they are hardly likely to, what conclusion will people draw from this?

Good post Staffs.
I can see no reason why not, good news or bad,the board don't inform us regularly what is going on.

I have a niggling fear that SC signed up out of the goodness of his heart. Hence only one year, when we'll have the go-ahead for Falmer.Think about it,with his history with Brighton, and all the hullabaloo about his signing, he couldn't leave after a year.

But he had no other offer when he left Brentford last summer, but that wasn't the point. He was sick of the financial restraints under Nodes, and wasn't prepared to carry on like that.

I personally go by the maxim never believe something tills its been officially denied.

Why would they confirm or dey this, they would be damned if they do and damned if the don't.

If there were any financial troubles the last thing you wnat to do is confirm it. Then your suppliers would be asking for cash up front which really buggers up the business plan and cash flow etc and causes all kinds of problems.

The club have been right, say nought if its a rumour cos if you deny it people will only say no smoke without fire.
