Anybody else think the experiment in the 3rd is a farce? Wage capping has got to be the way to go to stop clubs going under but the mealy mouthed botched this season is laughable. As I understand it, if the teams don't abide by it then their punishment is to not get a grant of approx £30k.
My mates son, Ashley Westwood, has just moved from Sheffield Wednesday to Northampton for the same wages (About 5k a week). This is the same player we offered a 2 1/2 year contract to last December (He turned it down because he wouldn't train Christmas Day ready for Norwich! ) for between 3 and 4k a week. And according to my mate, there are 3 or 4 other new signings for the Cobblers who are on the same wages.
There is no way that a club the size of Northamptn can fund wages like that from their turnover so they are making a mockery of the ruling. Surely a large points deduction would be an appropriate penalty.
What does everyone else think? Am I just a moaning old git?
BTW - How I laughed when they lost 1-0 at home to Torquay! We've got a team meeting in Bristol this Wednesday so my mate is coming to watch a real football match!
