Monkey Man's advice to go and see Henry Butler in Hanover or Kemptown is sound. Beyond that, Zubrowka is excellent. It's a Polish vodka, flavoured with bison grass, great served neat or with apple juice. Vodka is not my favourite drink though.

My wife makes the best martinis outside of an Ian Fleming novel, she swears by Belvedere and I see the price after she buys it! Very smooth though.

A Polish friend recommend "ZUBROWKA" which has a slight yellow colour because it has a length of straw (the real stuff) in the bottle.

Another vote for Zubrowka although it's not straw in it. It's Bison Grass which sells for about £450 a kilo. That's what gives it a yellowy green tinge and the almondy flavour. Beautiful with a good quality cloudy apple juice and a squeeze of fresh lime.

Job done: liked the bison grass & suggestion to drink with apple & lime + it was available and not as pricey as some. Cheers.
