I can't seem to get any sense out of anyone. Any help appreciated.

As a UK citizen holding a British passport - and going to the US for business
for 10 days - do I need a visa or ESTA or anything?

Most sites seem to say that the passport is enough.

Esta- if you've got a criminal record then start to sweat.

You'll then need a visa. One of the ESTA questions is about criminal records.

Came through yesterday. I was in the immigration queue behind a guy who (earwigging) had recently been to Libya. I switched queues. I think the guy may still be there :lolol:

Yes need an ESTA. £12 online if I recall

ESTA for sure.

I once flew into NY without an ESTA. They were not happy that I had been able to board at Heathrow.
Thought they weren't gonna let me in the country!

You will need an Esta. It's $14, about £10.

A quick word of warning. As of 1st April they will only grant an ESTA to electronic passports. These were introduced late 2006 so there is potential for a very small window where you could still have a non electronic (passport with a chip) one.

I hope this helps

Just lie, the US authorities have no access to UK criminal records other than for terrorism related stuff.

True. It's a weirdly worded question as well, about "crimes of moral turpitude." What exactly does this mean?

Only 10 days? Just ESTA & say it's a holiday, no questions asked on the visa waiver.
I have a C1/D, but over there a lot longer.

And be prepared for a grilling if you are doing anything remotely abnormal on your trip...like maybe staying in two different places.
