If you are going for work and state that at the desk then you will need a visa, other wise if you say you are on "holiday" then I believe the visa waiver system is still in operation. However security for people coming from London is extreme to say the least as reported from a chap here who went to visit friends for the week last week and travelled through Chicago....

Think you need at least a year left on your passport, check the passport office website

You will need a visa waiver, available when you land. Will cost you a tiny bit. Last time I got one I think I paid $6. I did once read that from October you will need to be fingerprinted and photographed like people from non-visa waiver countries, but I don't know if that is still true.

Oh, and I think there might be something about not going with a passport that will expire within 6 months.

As long as you have a "machine readable" passport you are ok I believe. A machine readable one has all the numbers at the bottom of the picture page

You need to check out the US Embassy website - but I would do this "after" you have been to the US. This is why...

Have you ever been arrested? That is, arrested even without being convicted. And don't think that the Rehab of Offenders Act will save you - the US Immigration Law bypasses that, and they have access to the PNC and NCIS.

Check the site and have a look...
