Virgs Completes Move

By Paul Camillin

Adam Virgo today paid tribute to Albion's supporters as he completed his £1.5m move to Celtic.

The club's current Player Of The Season, who passed a medical in Glasgow earlier today, has put pen to paper on a four-year deal this afternoon.

He told seagulls.co.uk, "The Albion fans have been good to me. In fact, I've been on the websites like North Stand Chat in the last couple of days and people have wished me all the best.

"It's nice that people go out of their way to do things like that and I'll treasure those memories.

"The fans who travel away to support us on a Tuesday night away at Preston, they're the reason that you do well because you want to impress them because they spend all that money to come and watch you.

"I know people that spend their wages and allowances following the Albion around the country. It's credit to them, and they deserve a new stadium more than anyone.

"They try to fill the Withdean up every week and sit there in the cold and wind and rain, so I'm very appreciative of the Brighton fans."

"I know next season Brighton will do well, and the fans will be right behind them as they always are.

Albion fans will remember Virgo as one of their own. The ultimate local boy done good. And they'll never forget two of his goals in particular - against Swindon in 2004, and more recently against Ipswich in his last appearance in an Albion shirt.

Both strikes were vital to the club's current position in the Championship for very different reasons, but for Virgo the sheer drama of the Swindon goal singles that out above any other achievement.

"It's always the Swindon goal that springs to mind. I still watch that now and it still sends goosepimples down my neck. If I had missed that header then God knows what would have happened!

"We went on to do a job at the Millennium Stadium, and then last season was a great season - probably the proudest season I've had at the club.

"I know we didn't win anything, but the size of the squad, the size of the stadium, money, injuries, suspensions and everything like that rolled into one; to get over 50 points in the Championship is a fantastic achievement by everyone at the club."

Perhaps they should get priority on away game tickets.

Great player, fantastic attitude, will always be loved by the fans and welcomed back anytime.

Hope he is a huge success at Celtic. 50k crowds every week - nobody deserves it more

Gutted to hear the fella's going, but with his commitment, the sweaties are gonna love him (in their own special way).

This move won't do his Scottish senior side aspirations any harm either.

Good luck Virgs!

I can see Virgo being a regular for Scotland if this all works out OK.

Well done and hey Adam never forget us and the very best of luck.

Of all Albion players moving on to a bigger paycheque-he's the one that deserves it the most for me.

Never gave less than 100%, didn't dick the club around like Harding, seems to appreciate the opportunity being given to him and remembers his beginnings.

He is going to be a hell of a lot harder to replace than Zamora, Harding, and all the others who've moved on-simply because he still bleeds blue and white (like Mayo does).

Adam, I don't like your choice of new club but can only wish you the very best for the future:clap:
