If we had real back-up in either midfield OR upfront, then Virgo could simply play in the other. The problem is we have no quality beyond the first XI in any of those positions, so even a couple of injuries causes chaos. This is exactly where, in my opinion, we're going to struggle this year. If we could put our first team out in EVERY match I'd bank on us being top 3/4, but as a SQUAD we're not even play-off material due to the idiots that have to come in as soon as a class player is out.

i refuse to believe that you are a brighton fan from the wording on this post.

sorry, badger, but you are a f***ing doughnut.

no wonder you are so disliked, f***ing hell you miserable little boy. get a life.

Not slagged off, but you have an issue with the bloke despite him NEVER having played for us.

He has played for us.

Everyone has a right to an opinion. As someone who seems to get a bit of criticism for my own on occasions, I'd never deny that. What I find important in an opinion is, however ridiculous and outrageous it is, is that there is somewhere a semblance of logic and evidence behind it. That's why, as I said, I might think you're deranged for suggesting Mayo is a midfielder, but I'd never say you shouldn't have that opinion.

'Deranged'? What is the point of a debate when you resort to abuse like that. Why should I dignify a comment like that with a response?

And you accuse me of 'arrogance'?

But, and here's todays issue, criticism of a new player before his first match for us is not an opinion, and appears to me as either a witch-hunt or a wind-up. There is no logic behind saying Livermore is not up to the job, as he's only just been brought into the club. If he plays the next 6 games and then you criticise him then good luck to you, that's fine, but now I do find a tad pathetic.

There is a logic. I placed it on here on the previous page.

You may disagree with it, but you're not right to say there 'is no logic'.

As for superiority, I don't see the need for any on something like nsc. It's an internet messageboard, and I don't know 99% of the contributors. I'm sure you don't either, so what's the need to come across as very arrogant and 'know-it-all'? There are no prizes for being right the most times, or putting the most people down.

I'm was backing up my statement with an explanation, as requested.

So I don't agree with the notion of 'superiority' or 'arrogance' or the 'know-it-all' in my explanation. How can there be when I don't know any more about the club than you do.

YOU might think there's those qualities in there, others may even agree - bully for them, I don't know. But you're accusing me of this as though it were a proven fact, when all we're doing is supposed to be offering opinions.

I hope this all goes on SCR. Quality stuff

Agreed, having read it on here already, it would make ANOTHER reason not to listen to it, other than Hawesie's ever-excellent commentary.

Nein danke. As I've said before, I'm not the world's biggest fan of Livermore.

So because The Large One doesn't rate him, he must not be played?!:lolol: Incidentally, I wasn't too impressed with him against Ipswich in pre-season, but he HAS to be played over Mayo. In terms of experience of playing Centre Mid at this level, Livermore has as much as anyone.

1. Why are you so openly dismissing pre-season friendlies? They DO have a meaning - especially the ones closer to the start of the season. Otherwise, what is the point of having them? For one, it gives the manager an idea as to who his starting XI is.

2. 'Deranged' is pretty insulting, actually. I have an opinion that Mayo can do a job there. I agree that I can think of better theories than Mayo in midfield, but I don't happen to think it's a deranged idea.

3. See 1.

4. I don't pretend to know anything about the club either. I either know something or I don't. Sometimes I might be told something isn't necessarily for public consumption (and it's always something where I am certainly NOT the only person to hear about it), or, fully realising that if the club wanted us to know something, that's what the Press Officer is for. And if I don't, and I feel I need to comment, I qualify my statements with 'I'm guessing here, but...' or 'From what I have been told...' etc.

I 100% agree with this.

Our starting eleven is capable of doing very well, look further into the squad, and there are very, very few decent players left. With Murray out, look at the discussion going on as we have no-one half decent to fill that position.

When we face injuries or suspensions of key players, we do have the squad and numbers to swap man for man in positions, but it doesn't mean the quality is the same.

Can anyone explain to me the point of DIXON?

according to my "hush hush" insider mate, that was a horrendous mistake by the previous incumbant who thought we needed another striker and was amazed when after signing him he turned out to be truly dreadful ( a bit like the Irish bloke)
