Virgo to replace Murray? Your thoughts...

If we had real back-up in either midfield OR upfront, then Virgo could simply play in the other. The problem is we have no quality beyond the first XI in any of those positions, so even a couple of injuries causes chaos. This is exactly where, in my opinion, we're going to struggle this year. If we could put our first team out in EVERY match I'd bank on us being top 3/4, but as a SQUAD we're not even play-off material due to the idiots that have to come in as soon as a class player is out.

But the point is we DO have midfield options... unfortunately McLeod, Livermore AND El Abd are all unavailable.

Up front we do not have any quality options after Forster and Murray.

So what? So, he shouldn't have to try? He shouldn't bring anything to the game?

There might be no other explanation in your universe, but as we've gathered from your behaviour on here, some people's horizons are a tad wider than yours. And the fact you get criticised by some on here is for far more than 'slagging off' (sorry, did I slag him off? Don't think so).

I've already said before why I haven't seen anything within his game to make me feel we don't have better (apologies for the unintended double negative there).

It's all about opinions, isn't it?

Say it again then, because you haven't explained anything there just covered it up by having a pop at CB.

The thing is I'm not saying you're wrong about him being a poor player. He may turn out to be the shittest player to EVER pull on an albion shirt for all I know. What completely baffles me is that you've chosen to pick him out on the back of a pre-season friendly. Ok, he didn't run the show in every friendly he played, but who did? Noone from what I saw, and it's all about what they do in the league games that matters anyway.

Yes, it's all about opinions, but in order to have a respected opinion you do have to actually give a player a CHANCE to judge them. You can criticise me all you like (which is what you usually resort to for no reason), but I'm not the one writing a player off after a friendly and 49 minutes of a league cup tie am I? And you have the audacity to talk about my 'horizons.' You berk. If I get criticised on here at least it's for an honest opinion, which is better than being an arrogant (with absolutely nothing to justify arrogance) tosser in my opinion.

Completely agree.

Are you going to glibly throw around insulting names and gestures all afternoon?

As for playing Mayo in the defensive role in midfield, I have no real issue with that (he can, and has, do a perfectly good job there. Some might have an issue, but that's their problem.

He could have done a job in centre midfield about 3 years ago, maybe. Now he is so overweight and slow he shouldn't be anywhere near as an important position as centre midfield.

Did you see him in the warm up on Tuesday night... he looked pretty trim... perhaps he has been on the same pre-season regime as Dean White?

Fraid not, I was one of the lucky people who had to pick up my ticket at the ticket office.

He seemed really out of shape in pre-season so someone may have had a word. That said regardless of whether he has manged to get fit enough he still shouldn't be let anywhere near CM.

Come on. We're waiting for your reason(s) as to why you don't think Livermore's any good....

From what I've seen pre-season, Livermore is a QUALITY footballer... I'd be quite happy to see Adam Virgo move up front if he was available to play alongside Thomson.

However, if the alternative midfield options are Mayo or Fraser, then I would rather see AV in the midfield and OGH/Robinson playing up front with Nicky Forster.

I would put Virgo up front with Fozzy tomorrow but then again I'm not Micky - he will be making the final selection. Depends on the Rovers expected line up too , Jakey could start up front and then interchange with Virgo which might give OGH the chance to come off the bench late in the 2nd half.

Certainly.

As the pre-season matches went on, the team - as a whole - should have been improving, in terms of fitness and team-play, their playing qualities. e.g. positional sense, passing, team-work, work-rate - all the stuff they know about of course, but could have gone rusty about during their summer break.

As each game went on, most, if not all players were getting to 'match-fitness' levels. Not all.

What worried me was that, each time Livermore played, I felt he neither helped the defence, nor the attack, often had the game pass him by and was generally ineffective, and didn't contribute as much as he could or should have at a time when this could not really be said of the other midfielders.

When he was taken off, there was a marked improvement in the tempo, style and quality of the Albion's game. At first, I dismissed it as being an abberation. Unfortunately, it happened in all three games I saw him in.

I'm not saying he's shit - far from it, I'm sure he's a high-quality acquisition - merely that from the way that the rest of the squad has played alongside him and without him, Livermore doesn't either look match-fit, or isn't interested or isn't good enough, and that a midfield or El-Abd/Thomson, Fraser/Thomson, Virgo/Thomson or even (yes, really) Mayo/Thomson looks a better prospect.

Just my opinion, like.

With no rudeness. :)

Who asked you, you effeminate fat waste of space?

Did I say I didn't throw around insults? I love sending them your way - it's what you're there for. I just find TCB's method of debate on subjects that needn't involve grief often involve grief.

Opening gambits like 'pathetic' and 'berk'. Unnecessary.

So f*** off yourself, shithead.
