In my opinion, Hart is no longer up to it up front. He will try his best, but I would like to think there is now a bit more quality control with the team selection rather than picking him because he 'loves the club' or 'will give 110%'. If we signed someone with the ability of Hart the striker, people would be disappointed, that is a fact.

Wait and see but he is champing at the bit to prove himself in the first team again, I know he lacks a bit of pace now but looks fitter and quicker than he was last season.

As for his ability as a striker it isn't that bad

It seems simple to me, Virgo must stay in midfeild, he has got a good goal scoring run from there and I'd like it to continue.
I do like the look of another posters veiw which is to play 5 at the back and have Nicky up there on his own.

Age has taken its toll on him, back in the day he was very good. I'm not necessarily saying any of the others are any better than he is, I'm saying I don't agree with the sentimental nature of people calling for Hart to play. Personally, I would pick Robinson if Virgo is kept in midfield. Robinson has got a spark to him and although he has been inconsistent in years gone by, a pre-season under Micky may have done him good.

4-5-1. Forster up front on his own with cox and robinson pushing up as support from the flanks?

Its so defensive though, we shouldn't be playing that sort of formation at home in a game we expect to win. Shove Robinson up top in that case and give Forster some help up there!

Now i would play Jake out on the wing as he can cross a decent ball to be met bt Virgo surging forward. Also likely to get a few free kicks in the right areas.

Harty is only 31 it's not the age that has taken it's toll on him it is the injury and infrequent starts

Cork it Steward. Robinson is crap and Hart is past it, why can't you just accept these simple facts?

But then other than his first season with us (1998-99) he has hardly ever played up front. Most of his games have been on the right of midfield.

Spot on. I would be pretty pissed off if we played 4-5-1 at home in a game like this. Can't see beyond Jake up with Forster and leaving Virgs exactly where he is.

When has Robinson ever really put a decent cross in from the bye line? He is too scared to go past people, so either passes it square to a team mate or kicks it at the full back in the hope of getting a throw in.

The difference of opinion here just proves that we do need another striker.

Ideally Dixon should go up front with Forster but seeing as Micky didn't even choose him as one of his 7 subs on Tuesday indicates that he doesn't think much of him or that he hasn't been performing in training.

In the absence of a new striker I would go for Robinson up front.
