Now on Freeview channel 727. At last, decent music in quality sound. Southern FM listen and learn. Rock on!

Its 128K Joint Stereo Musicam, that is NOT good quality. The much derided DAB version of it is higher quality (160 Stereo IIRC) and the Sky version even better (192 Stereo), both also Musicam.

Only you could make Virgin Radio a bad thing, regardless of the music genre it plays!!

Obviously not, but DTT radio (and all DAB in the UK bar Virgin and Radio 3) is also shite, in different ways. AM radio sounds flat, low bitrate Musicam gets strange ringing effects, missing frequencies, etc.

Virgin on Freeview drops to 80K overnight, which is accepted as telephone quality.

I'm listening to Virgin at the moment and i have to say, although the songs they play are great, there's just no variety.

There's 4 decades of great music they could pick from and if you listened to it for the first time you'd think it was the dogs nuts but i've heard Freefalling, Golden Brown, Hotel California, Jack Johnson, James **** ect, ect every time i've listened to the station now, need to increase the size of the playlist in my opinion!
