I can see us going back in for him for the simple reason that if we buy him now for x amount it will not effect the FFP but if we go back in for him in the summer (or another player who costs a fair few quid) that will have to take into account the FFP thus limiting what we can spend on others

My assessment was based on the fact that VDV was being outpriced at the moment and we need cover for the next game so need a signing today tomorrow or Tuesday in order to train with the team before the game against Sheff Wed as it is important we win that game.

I agree - it isn't just the transfer deadline that should be focussing the mind. We need to start getting 3 points out of most games from here and can't afford any silly lapses at the back especially from a makeshift CB.

I would love to see VdV signed quickly or at worst an experienced specialist CB brought in on loan. However I wouldn't be surprised if Gus just carries on with Calderon, Vincelot etc. until Greer is fit. Could be risky if we get further injuries and/or suspensions.

VdV would be my preference: a) a permanent signing b) is young, so an investment for the future c) Dutch flair d) he has pace and also knows where the net is.

Bizarre Transfer Speculation - Virgil van Dijk

If we are only £500k out or so, and wages are fine, I can't see us missing out on him surely ?

Hopefully Dunk will be available. I see Cook played for Bournemouth yesterday and got in the team of the day in the Mirror.

Passes it around nicely and looks confident on the ball.

VvD's role seems to be more of a sweeper . plus FC Groningen play very deep.

More often than not the FCG goalie rolls the ball out to VvD to distribute.

FCG's only chance so far a header by VvD hit the bar

Not sure this deal will happen now, FCG would not be playing him if a deal for him was close.
