Big, big thanks to ex-Albion left-back Gary Williams for providing me with this, some very special Match of the Day highlights from the day he got the winner in March 1980 as Brighton completed the League double over the European champions.

I hope this clip revives some good memories!

I particularly love John Motson's line: 'Alan Minter comes from nearby Crawley, so Albion are very much his local club' - :p

Clough "I know it was a fluke goal, when the left back scored from 20 yards in the final minutes. We should be able to come away from home and put on a performance good enough to beat sides like Brighton"

haha!

I was 11 years old and stood in the south stand just to the left of the goal and watched as the ball was seemingly heading straight for me. I was too young to understand the significance of the result at the time but went mad with everyone else at the goal and final whistle. :clap2:

What a fantastic YouTube, loved seeing that. How good was Williams' goal? Superb. John Robertson was a hell of a player too. It's almost hard to remember how regularly Clough talked crap on telly in that era..."fluke" indeed.

That's exactly how I remember the Goldstone back then too. Man alive, the tang of sweet nostalgia.

Blimey there were some class players on the pitch that day.

Happy memories, remember standing in the chicken run with my dad.

Clough's comments at the end! Bitter? hahaha. Good chorus of 'You're going to get your effing heads kicked in' around the 10 minute mark too..

Like I think everyone who was there, remember absolutely nothing about the match apart from the goal, so thanks for posting. Them were the days...

Superb memories - and the old Goldstone was choca and humming!! I'll take 1-0 on Saturday too with a Liam Bridcutt piledriver from 25 yards to fluke a win!!
