I know Buckley scored the goal, but IMO Vincelot changed the game in the last 5 mins. Chased every ball, and a very clever lay off to Buckley to fool the defender. Proving to be a good buy!

Why was he on the bench? Offers more at left back than Painter or Taricco, offers more in the centre of midfield than Alan Navarro and I have my suspicions that he'd offer more up front than Billy Paynter. And yet, he sits on the bench? I know it's good to have a versatile player on there as cover, but not at the expense of the starting line up, surely?

I agree.

Vincelot is the perfect utility player as he can cover so many positions, but he is also carrying a weak shoulder. He needs an operation on it so Gus is reluctant to risk him dislocating it again by over playing him.

Why weren't the 3 subs all on earlier, they are simply better than those they replaced

How much of it is them being better players, and how much is that them having the benefit of watching the game from the sidelines to read the game, how much is them being fresher, how much is it different instructions from gus?

It's easy to look at the impact of subs and say they should have started, but it's rarely the case that it works in practice. I remember early last season, or perhaps late the season before (definitely under gus) where we started with kishishev and navarro, and would struggle, replace them with bridcutt and someone else, and that would turn the game around, the following game we'd start with bridcutt and struggle, bring on kish and navarro and they'd turn the game around.

also thought CMS did a lot of work on the wing in order to get the ball in to Vincelot...great play all around!

Vincelot - Under or over appreciated.

Have read all of the posts on this thread and would just like to add that I think RV is absolutely excellent. He appears to being used as a 'super sub' because of his versatility thereby enjoying perhaps fewer starts - hope he doesn't become pissed off. Today he demonstrated unselfishness in setting up Will Buckley for an unlikely winner and, last wekend, scored a blinding header to win the game for us.

The thing that worries me is that, whilst Tanno is generally superb, he is now 38 and sadly cannot go on forever so I hope that GP has a cunning plan !

Have posted the same sort of remark on another thread. Last 2 games he has produced the goods when it mattered. Painter and navarro both made way way for him and he delivered.

His lay off for Buckley was fantastic. I can think of many players that would have panicked at that stage of the game and in that position of the pitch, but he played the pass to perfection. Credit to CMS for his burst past the defender and putting the cross in too. Oh and credit to Buckley for the finish. It really was a class goal!

Is it just me, or was that the worlds slowest lay off.
It seemed to take forever for WB to even get close to it.
