Veltman looks woefully short of what’s needed in this system. He’s right in front of me, they’re obviously targetting, and beating him every time.

Which is one of the reasons to believe we’re about to splash £30m on a new one.

This lot finished 8th last season. I think they are probably comparable to top lower half prem. At present we look like we will be fine against Saints, Bournemouth and Wolves types but be very exposed v the top teams.

mixed bag - Wieffer looks ok, but a bit plain Jane - Propper vibes…. We simply cannot line up with him and Milner in CM next week. Bizaare he doesn’t fancy Gilmour - our best midfielder last season. Line is too high defensively and way too exposed down our right. Lots to work on for me. Desperately need a CM I would say - where’s the little lad with the high hairline gone? Not in squad. Assume Lamptey injured?

The transition from De Zerbi ball to the Fab cab is starting to be more evident. passing and movement is very similar, but the closing down in packs is very interesting!
However, there seems to be Hyypia sized holes behind the full backs when we lose the ball....I'm sure it'll be alright though

I’m impressed by us so far, I think Veltman is doing a difficult job in this system and is actually managing quite well, given he prefers to be more about being in the right place to start with, rather than legging it up and down the pitch at pace.

Two good goals and Wieffer looks better as well. Looking forward to the second half.
