On income of £54m, they had net costs of £159m including wages of £95m [compared to our £40m (including £9m in bonuses) in 2016/17].

The stadium ‘sale’ to a related company gave a ‘gain’ of £36m to part mask the £105m loss.

With £145m spent on players post these accounts, Dean Smith’s team are shirley under performing, so far.

But they ARE a massive club, so it will all work out fine

These aren't the players you're looking for.

Looks like Man U might be in quite a strong position in that particular negotiation.

Not sure they will be needing Grealish with Bruno Fernandez already filling that role and Jude Bellingham looking likely to join as backup in the summer. I think they'll go for Jayden Sancho instead.

About time the EPL stopped clubs bending the rules using this method

I take it that this size loss is well outside the EFL FFP allowance and therefore they can look forward to some punitive measures should they go down?

This what I read in the press a few weeks ago.

How much did we lose in our promotion season?

Villa had nothing after relegation - they had to build an entire new squad - and that costs these days.

On top of their horrendous 2018/19 accounting losses, Villa’s promotion squad cost £120m in transfer fees, to grab a play off place.

The Albion’s promotion squad cost £23.5m, gaining automatic promotion.
