I know this is an Albion board - but very interesting article in today's Telegraph quoting Vidic as saying he hate the weather in Manchester, doesn't want to stay in England and the highlight of the city is the station "because it takes you to places where it's not raining". He also suggests that Spain is sunnier and he'd quite like to give it a go.

A case of a player knowing that a better deal could be had in Spain and instigating a confrontation? Is this basically a resignation speech and starting the process of getting out. Can't see Big Alex being happy about this.

I would have thought that Alex couldn't care less. Vidic has said nothing that's not true, has he? He hasn't said he wants to leave now, just that he'd like to go somewhere else one day. No surprise there. I think you're reading too much into it.

Maybe - seemed like an odd interview to give at this time of the season. But could also be the Russian paper (who did the interview) or The Telegraph (who reported it) making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I was more interested in this as an example of how a player can begin to control his own destiny - a la Hammond?? - than in the Man U angle really. It's not just clubs who poach players or dump them when they are surplus to requirements.

I'm sure that in about 36 hours, after all the sh1t has hit the fan, it will transpire that Mr. Vidic will issue a statement via the club saying he was mis-quoted. Usual story.. " I'm so sorry that people thought I was ungrateful towards the fantastic supporters of Manchester U.. etc. etc."

You would think someone in the public eye like this would think before opening their mouths... mind you, he is a footballer so maybe it's too much to ask ?:thud:

Why does anyone actually care what a footballer says about anything? As long as they give 100% every time they pull on the shirt for whichever club they play for is all that matters. They are nothing more than mercenaries out for what they can get (like the rest of us).

Excellent (but short) interview. Vidic comes across very well and nobody can dispute what he says. Especially this bit:

Vidic, who joined United from Spartak Moscow in January 2006, also had harsh words for the English approach to work. "It's not only the weather that I'm not happy about here," he told the Russian magazine Football Weekly. "In Russia and Serbia the people's way of life is similar. In England it's totally different. Here they just don't have time to feel the joy of life.

"Throughout the week they all work so hard. They only talk to people at lunch break. Then in the evening they come home and watch the telly, so they can get up early for work the next day.

I'm sure its a lot easier to have time to "feel the joy of life" when your working day generally finishes at about 1pm, and you're getting about £75k a week rammed into your bank account to help you along.

Vidic sounds just like most professional footballers, particularly those who make a living in the Premiership - he's a cossetted DUNCE who is completely insulated from the real world.

Nemanja told ManUtd.com: "I'd like to clarify that I did not make these particular remarks. I spoke about the difficulty I had settling in to life in Manchester, but that does not reflect how I feel now.

"I enjoy my life very much as a footballer at Manchester United and I'm very happy to be a part of this great club. I think I show that in the way I play every week. I also have far too much respect for the people of Manchester, and England, to criticise them in this way."

Vidic has highlighted the main thrust of Ronaldo's desire to escape that rain-soaked sh*thole. If you're Portuguese and could live in Spain why the fug would you want to be living in Blighty, and especially Manchester?
