The bitch hired butlers for every guest at the christening party for their kids, but could only manage to donate £1,000 to the Tsunami fund, the equivalent of me donating a penny I would imagine.

She visited a famine struck african country last year for a tv documentary and watched kids scrabble on rubbish dumps for scraps, but it has not pricked her conscience one little bit as her extravagance gets worse and worse.

This woman is shameful. She should have kept her money in her pocket or donated considerably more.

Her and Beckham have an estimated fortune of £135m between them - and rising. £1,000 is a joke.

She got £96,000 worth of free stuff from Dolce and Gabanna last week alone.

I can see your point, but to be fair they probably spread quite a bit of dough around lots of charities...

My mum worked for the NSPCC (Head Office no less) and for years now, she's been telling any poor sod who'll listen that Beckham does more for them than any other 'celebrity' around. She thinks he's the D's B's. While he was still in the country, he would turn up at their centres and hospices unnanounced and unplanned. I know it's a bit "Smashy & Nicey" but it's actually true that (and I quote) 'he does a lot of work for charity but doesn't like to talk about it'

As for his wife, that's another matter .....

I knew it'd only be a matter of time before someone criticised some public figure for not donating what they perceive to be enough. For me, that's just churlish and pathetic. Aside from the fact that this may only be the tip of what they truly give, I think that anyone who donates to charity deserves admiration. We all have different amounts of resources, but what an individual chooses to give should be up to them, and not for others to use as a weapon against them.

I'm sure that grand will mean the same to those who benefit from it as every pound given.

Any donation is a matter for the donors conscience and not really for public consumption. In fact, I find it rather tasteles when people, especially the very wealthy, go on about how much they give to good causes. The cynical side of me says that they are buying public goodwill and publicity.

Seems very judgemental of pople here to crititise the Beckhams. I'm no fan of theirs but how much have their detracters given to the disaster fund and additionally how much charitable work do any of them do in a year ?

A penny? Much less I would imagine. I love it when celebrities become known for charity donations; I always give a larger proportion of my income to charity than people like Elton John. I should think lots of people on here do.
