Odds on Reading trying to sign him up after his performance last night. That was the main thing going through my mind last night other than the game.

FYI Reading, he has been dogshit every other game this Season.

With their Russian backers and a place in the Premier League, they can probably have their pick of anyone in our team. Some things never seem to change, except they won't be wanting our manager this time

TBH I think he could get a place in any of the top 4 sides in the Prem - do dont think Reading will be on his radar - which unfortunately means he wont be staying with us. :nono:

We shall see. I can see him staying with us because he likes the way we play, he always has a place in the team, he doesn't speak much English and there are a fair few people at the club who can speak Spanish. It will all come down to what matters most for him.

He needs regular football to keep him fit as he doesn't train regularly so a team like Reading or Swansea would be perfect.

I hope he shows some loyalty but with the contract situation the balls in his court :(

I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing at the game last night.

Then I remembered what Reading itself is like, and was immediately reassured that Vicente will not be moving there.

No he couldn't. Watching him with championship players does make him look very good, but the gulf in class between Championship and a top four club is HOOOOGE.

243 appearances for valencia, 38 for spain and fit i think he could play in the top 4 sides in prem. Having said that would not be surprized to see him go to Lpool.

Perhaps I've got it wrong, so please enlighten me. I thought we had signed Vicente for 1 year with a 1 year option to extend. I thought this meant that at the end of the season we can exercise that option and providing we offer the same terms, (or better), he cannot sign for another team in this country. He can refuse to sign but can then only sign for a continental club in Europe. Thats how I thought it worked.

I'm not sure the details of his contract have really been stated other than its 1 year.

I'm honestly not all that sure he'll be looking to move anywhere else, at least not in this country.

He's had a great career, won almost everything there is to win in the game, and is now thirty odd. He had the chance to go to bigger clubs in the summer, yet he chose to sign for us. Presumably that's because Poyet really made him feel wanted, made him feel good about himself after a pretty demoralising few seasons. I'm confident he's not money motivated, as he must have made loads already, and other clubs would have offered him more than us in the summer. He's probably not that desperate to be in the Champions League or whatever (and I don't think he's done enough yet for a CL club to try and sign him). Does he need more medals?

I genuinely think that at this stage of his career, it might really be about happiness above all else. If you've had a crap time of it, and you find a situation that finally makes you happy, do you then risk upsetting that all over again by moving somewhere else? Maybe we're just the right club, at the right time for him.

I guess if he wasn't settled in Sussex, he might be looking to go back to Spain, but we haven't heard anything to suggest that's the case at the moment.

I also don't think he fits in with Brian McDermott's style either- workmanlike, no stars, rigid 4-4-2 every match, for what it's worth.

If Dalglish is bidding, I want £75 million, not a penny less.

Lets not forget , that as good as Vincente is , and that is V good, he still has the tendancy to go missing for periods in the game . IE Burnley, and iam sure that he would find it very much harder to replicate what he is doing in the Prem with a new team . That added to his South coast Spanish enviroment ,i think he will stay. But hey ho its been good whilst we have had him .

I'm worried Reading will, as usual, be sniffing around all our good players. I've not forgotten Coppell / Sidwell / Ingarmarsson / Brooker at all. Bastards.

re Vicente - We def signed him on a yr contract with an option to the 2nd yr - is it purely the club who decide on the 2nd yr or can he say 'no i'm moving' if he wants out?!

Great to see Vicente starting again and shoving 2 fingers up at the wankers on here who were having a pop a few months back - wish I could be arsed to drag up some old threads / quotes on him.

I would imagine that we have the option to sign him for the second year and he has the option to say no... a very helpful post me thinks.
