Apologies for another thread on the great man.

I have just watched the interview that was on Late Kick Off and I am concerned that we will lose him in the summer.

Quote 'We will see what the next 7 games brings and then look at the situation' (not an exact quote but words to that affect).

If we remain in the Championship I think we will see him off to The Prem. Come on Gus get that silver tongue working and secure him for us.

Why concerned?
Everyone had written him off a couple of months ago.

He's been brilliant. Far too good for us. Nothing to worry about or be concerned. He'll be off to bigger and better things, and who can blame him?

Just enjoy him while it lasts.

No concern needed. We'll be fine without him. If he stays it'll be good. Not a lot of premier league teams would want him IMO.

If we have a fit Vicente for the last six games we have a chance.

I'm in 2 minds about Vicente

(A) we were lucky to get him & should just make the most of our time with him
(b) we helped him get back to fitness & can guarantee first team football when fit

I thought the decision was ours, not his.

we have him on option. if gustavo decides to offer him another year then vicente is not at liberty to negotiate a deal elsewhere in the UK.

I do not doubt what you are saying but is this really true. I thought we had him for the year and that was that. How do you know this?.

I took his statement to read as if it relied on whether Gus wanted him or not.

He won't stay in this country anyway:)
I think it's just a year break for him to clear his head before heading back to Spain.

I saw that differently. I think he really wants to stay. I think Gus wants him to stay. I think the board need to be convinced of his fitness ( see previous thread from someone with 'inside info' that the guy who financed the deal was 'seething' about Vicente's lack of fitness ).

I don't think it will have anything to do with money or football(did I really say that?). I think providing he remains fit for the remaining games Gus will want to sign him up, imo it will come down to whether his family are happy.

My hunch, he will be here next season on another 1 year deal.

For once I agree with the Rev. I think the issue will be as to whether the club wish to commit to him. He has played only a little this season. If he can make the difference in games against Reading and West Ham and then the play offs the situation will change. However even the positive thoughts on this chat are not generally actually expecting that.

LA...wishing it was devon..
At the meal last night, Liam said that Vicente's mrs was expecting and they want to have the baby back in Spain... can't see her wanting to be over here, away from family with a newborn somehow! Hope I am wrong.

Would love him to stay, but if he goes back to Spain so be it. I'd be totally devastated if he was poached by Reading, Saints, West Ham or Norwich.

I took his interview quite positively to be fair. Said he was enjoying his team at the club, with the fans and happy with his contract. We gleamed nothing new from what Gus has been saying regarding his situation.

I think if Gus recruits well in the Summer then that could sway his decision in our favour. Although we see a good team in front of us at the Amex, most are labourers in Vicente's eyes, he needs added quality in the team that can take advantage of his slide rule passes!

Given his complete and utter genius there is clearly no need for him to train. Therefore he can live in Spain with his missus and newborn and just come and play for us on matchday. In fact i think maybe the club could even let him have weekday games off (unless they are big ones). I hope Gus and Vicente are reading this because i've clearly solved this dilemma for him and the club.
