Vicente first training session

The creative midfielder was not greeted by the best of the English weather for his first training session but he was more than impressed by his new team mates.

"It was not good weather to train in but it was still good. My new team mates were very good with me and the weather did not affect our session. It was good to meet everyone.

"It's good to get back working on my fitness again properly. I have had a personal trainer for the summer but it's not the same as training and playing matches.

"It might take me a bit of time to get my fitness. I probably could not play a full game at my best right now, but I'm not too far away. I feel I can still make a good contribution to the side."

Meanwhile, Vicente says that the fact Poyet, Tano and Inigo Calderon - who translated for his fellow Spaniard during the press conference - are all Spanish-speakers was another draw.

"It's important to me because I speak very little English. It's not so much of an issue on the pitch because that's easier to get by, but more off the pitch where you have conversations.

"I'll be having English lessons though because it's important that I learn to talk with all my team mates."
