Ranieri hails Veron as world's best midfielder.
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Claudio Ranieri knows that. But with nearly £60 million worth of new signings – including the latest duo, Juan Sebastian Veron and Joe Cole – the Chelsea boss also knows he can complete the Roman revolution at Stamford Bridge and bring in the silverware, putting the club in the league of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Unveiling the former Manchester United midfielder, Ranieri hailed Veron as "the best midfielder in the world'', tipping the £15 million signing to perform at Chelsea.
The Argentinian’s reaction was: "I think Mr Ranieri is exaggerating somewhat, but his words are a very big motivation to me."
Ranieri also praised Cole, who was signed for £6.6 million from West Ham, as a fantastic young player and compared him to former Chelsea star Gianfranco Zola.
Both Veron and Cole are eligible to play for Chelsea in their Champions League qualifier against Slovakia's Zilina next week.
