Im off to Las vegas for a work conference next monday. Just wondering what are the best attractions apart from casinos as i have a few spare days at the end of trip to have a look around.
Im staying at the Mandalay Bay.

Am thinking of going down to Los Angeles for the day on Saturday to see Beckham playing again the Colorado Rapids but apart from that im open to suggestions from the North Stand Chat experience crew!!!!

Thanks

Cannot recall the name but there is a rollercoaster on top of one of the hotels that is a must.

Trip over the Hoover dam to name a few

rollercoaster is on top of New York New York
and you must take a helicopter trip to Grand Canyon. Some friends went skiing for the day in the nearby mountains and also shot some guns at a gun range which they enjoyed.

Coaster is not really on top of New York New York, more all around/through it.

I think you mean the small coaster type ride on the top of the Stratosphere. There are actually 4 rides on top of the Strat and they're well worth a go. One of them actually dangles you out over the edge of the hotel. The hotel is over 1000 feet tall...

While I was there only 2 of the rides were operating because of the wind. But definitely worth a trip to the Stratosphere for the views.

Also worth checking out the water fountain displays outside the Bellagio.

Well you were told wrong. There is that side if you want, and I certainly saw that side when I went there for a work conference 7 years ago. But I went there for 3 days as part of my honeymoon last July and we had a great time. Helicopter ride over the Hoover Dam & Grand Canyon is a must, check out some of the shows - there are four Cirque de Soleil shows which are amazing, some of the restaurants are excellent - we went to the Picasso in the Belaggio.

Vegas is a great place for a few days

Vegas is 100% awesome.
I got married there last year and it's a great city.
The Bellagio fountains are great.
The "Pirate" show at Treasure Island is rubbish.
New York, New York Rollercoaster is good.
Strosphere rides and view is better.
There are also a few guns ranges in town so if you have a spare hour you can go loose off some hot metal.

Have family living there so have spent loads of time out there. The pirate show is crap now as no longer pirates but scantily clad women gyrating around, WHAT !!!!

Go to Ceasers Palace and see the Pussy Cat Dolls hosting the tables, the light show downtown at Freemont Street is well worth catching aswell, tis a cheap cab ride from the strip. If you have the time then get a flight over the dam/canyon, not too expensive and they will pick you up from somewhere like the Flamingo. Only things to avoid are the stupid American kids but you can usually hear them a mile off with the Yee Hah's and Dude shouts, normally spotted holding a novelty cup of weak beer.

I would recommend taking a stroll down Fremont St. This is the original strip and the one you will recognise from old films. The Golden Nugget, 'Vegas Vic' and Binnions are on this street. I prefer it to the main strip with is too family orientated for my liking. It's a little sleazy but dont let that put you off as it is safe as houses.

do the dangly ride on top of the Stratosphere - nothing below you except 900ft as you shoot over the side in a seat on a metal plank and stop at the end of it. then they waggle the seats making it feel like its going to snap off.

Did that in the evening after doing a 15000ft parachute jump in the morning and then the New York New York rollercoaster.

The helicopter ride over the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon is great, but the parachute jump which can be found on the net is incredible. You jump from 15000ft and freefall for just under a minute. On one side is the Hoover Dam and on the other is the strip. Cost only about £175.00 and DVD for extra £50.00 - best memory and highest altitude jump in the world (elsewhere 12000ft)
