How do you think they will play out?
I think it depends how the next few months go regarding Ukraine, Russia, NATO, etc. It will certainly be a time for a huge amount of reflection on the end of the "world order" that has existed since 1945. I get most of my news from the FT so maybe I'm being a bit myopic here, but it seems we are VERY close to the US formally siding with Russia and China, and Europe being very much alone. Things could change rapidly the other way, but I very much doubt it. So the 80th anniversary commemorations will almost certainly have a very different feel to them.

Before the VE Day anniversary, on the 22nd March it will be 80 years to the day since my Dad, his sister and my grandparents were blown out of their beds by a V2 rocket which landed just round the corner from their house in Stanmore. Three pairs of semi detached houses were completely destroyed and all the occupants died. A reminder of the horror of war and the fine margins between surviving or not.
