Starting a revolution from my bed
Nothing explicit, perhaps the closest I've heard is in Milner's interview (from c5mins in) who mentions the importance of 'winning the battles against Everton'. For defenders, especially, that's going to entail in the air, and it was very noticeable that Everton used the long diagonal to Harrison as a key tactic. I think Hinsh is better than Barco in the air, and this might be the reason why he was preferred in this game -- but it's only a theory.

Tend to think that it was a ‘horses for courses’ decision to play JH at left back. I expect that Dyche had been watching our pre season games and thought he’d target our left back as he was ‘small’.
Last year at Goodson he had targeted our right side.
Good to see that Fabian can be tactically flexible in dealing with threats.
I wouldn’t say that JH is a great defender but he doesn’t ever give up in terms of the physical battle and can run and run.
Also suspect that currently Hinshelwood is trusted more from a tactical and positional point of view.

Slight knock to Barco & then Hurzeler trusting a player he’d seen more minutes from in pre season for a tough opening fixture. Don’t think there’s anything more to it.

Just from what I've seen, Barco is a far superior left back, (as Hinsh would be far superior in CM or RB).

I thought it was an odd decision if i'm honest, as was to use Baleba there in pre season.

Though we won 3 nil, so it worked. Just think we should play out best team for our tough games coming up. In my mind Barco is our best left back

I would have thought Estupinan would be our no.1 LB, but appreciate he is injured at the moment.

Barco had a lot more football than Hinshelwood in pre season though.

Barco played 45 mins in both friendly games in Japan and started the Villarreal friendly too, playing the first hour. Hinsh came off the bench against QPR and Villarreal after an hour, that was his only pre season game time.

Would show what we all know. I’ve been impressed with him and was expecting him to get a good amount of game time…
But… if Ferdi *is* coming, he’d be third choice behind Ferdi and Pervis. Then there’s Baleba and Hinshelwood who have played there too either pre-season or against Everton.

Hinshelwood is definitely not going, Baleba is needed for numbers in the middle of the park.

Thinking about it, it really does make sense as a loan out. IF Kadioglu really is all but done. If that’s the case, they’ll happen within days of each other and I don’t think we’d let Barco go without getting our man first.

My assumption based on 2 players per position was Pervis and Barco LB and Hinsh and Ferdi RB with nearly all of those also able to play WB or even CM. Lamptey off.

No chance Ferdi comes in as a right back. Absolutely zero. He plays as first choice left back or left wing back for both his current club and the Turkish national team - if he’s coming he’s being signed as first choice left back. He’s right footed so plays inverted, like Mitoma or March.

He played a handful of games last season at right back due to an injury crisis at Fenerbache, but the moment the second choice right back was available again he went straight back to the left side.

Why no chance?

He's actually primarily right footed not left.

Yes, he's played as a (right footed) left back and is decent with left foot too, but I think it's perfectly conceivable he may play on right for us. Its same role just on other side.

I think it’s very unlikely we are spending another very possible club record fee for a player in the form of his life (hence signing him), who has been absolutely terrific since converting to left back - only to change his position.

Also if you read my post again mate, I explain his is right footed and plays inverted. In fact it was this very change which led to his massive improvement in form.

He is being signed as a left back. Absolutely dead cert.

Please no. Championship, surely? - or even League 1. Just go out and make a name for yourself young man - like White maybe.
? It says it's a loan signing doesn't it?
