Has he just come back from a weeks holiday in Tenerife or something ?

Yes I was amazed by this too, given he can’t play Thursday.
I can genuinely only think he doesn’t want to throw him into a team that isn’t playing well.

Pervis is a walking disaster area right now. Surely Barco will get his chance soon. Our left hand side is in desperate need of a rejig.
Igor and pervis' positional sense is woeful.

Barco’s cameo at Wolves has been one of our best individual performances over the last few weeks, I just don’t understand why he’s not getting minutes

Barco will get a chance - today wasn’t the right time. Each time you bring a youngster off the bench for minutes, you are using a sub opportunity that may be needed elsewhere depending how the match is playing out and other individual players are faring.

Perhaps cut Pervis some slack, he was out for months and months with a serious injury then got another 10 minutes after starting back and was out for another few months - that is a lot of time not being in top condition during an intense EPL season. He will get back but it will take time. Look how long it took Lamptey to get back upto speed - only halfway through this season - with many saying he was done. He is also a little lost at the moment without Mitoma - they had a very well honed partnership.

Igor - a bit more complicated - he has taken a while to bed in but exactly the bricksh*thouse we need in defence imo - he is coming forward more in attack and managing to get back quicker but he will never be a Pervis, he is a different type of player and turning into rather a rounded one too imo. I’m beginning to like that we have such physicality as Igor in our defenders. I think he probably gets scapegoated a lot because the weakness is in RDZ’s FB system rather than his individual play.

I can’t see Barco replacing either of them in the pecking order, the most Barco will get in the immediate future is minutes and covering for injuries (but he is a gem no doubt about it). His condition needs to get to Premier League level (ie sustained for 90 minutes) - he‘s not there. He also needs to understand what RDZ wants of him, not the other way round - once he’s settled in, ( and finished working on his image 🙂) we will see more of him - I presume RDZ has seen enough not to loan him out at least.

Understand what you’re saying, and sure ‘match readiness’ requires games, however positional sense and nous does not, that should be natural.

I thought Veltman was struggling, injury wise, so was surprised Tariq didn’t switch to that side and Barco come on further up.

Thought Igor was fine….

Barco was never going to come on today - I don't know who else noticed that his new hairstyle had started to unravel in the warm up. Who knows what would have happened if he'd had time in the game.....

Surprised he didn't get on today - if everyone is knackered from too many games / travelling and so on, then I would have thought today would have been an ideal time to play him?
Was expecting him to come on for Veltman and lamptey move to RB to protect Veltman for Thursday

I'm hoping and expecting to see plenty of Barco in the last few games.

Pervis still bang out of form, the Fati gamble looks to be one which won't pay off. The way I see it, let's develop our own player and make sure he's 100% ready for next season

Hello, I am a new member of the forum, from Argentina
I think that Roberto is right not to rush Barco to play, he has to know his teammates better, and his teammates him, as long as it's not for a long time either, South American players tend to get depressed if they don't play, much more so if they see that the equipment is not working so well
Another thing that would seem correct to me is that they should use him in midfield instead of left back to start, he doesn't know the forwards in the league and he's also not that good of a defender.
