Boca made it through the Copa Libertadores last night on pens which is probably not good news for getting this done (if there was ever a chance). At least in this window
Yesterdays chip paper, it’s all about this Fat bloke now.

If you have a look at their heat maps from Saturday, they are both high and wide. In fact, Pervis came centrally more than Milner. In the previous two games, Milner also stayed wide with Pervis tucking in slightly more than Milner but again, generally both staying wide. The system RDZ wants to play is crying out for another Pervis on the right IMO and a Caicedo type, more physical/defensive minded and energetic CM to drop in which we hopefully have now in Baleba.
Exactly he will play Lamptey when fit Pervis, Lamptey, Fati, Mitoma, Pedro, Ferguson is some mental attacking force

Any idea what is happening with Valentin?

Nope but, after much interest in him, there were reports that the player wants to stay at Boca and see out the rest of their season. There's nothing to prevent us or any other PL club signing him between now and January when the next window opens (pretty sure we got Facundo done between windows last year, but my memory might not be working), it's just that whoever buys him won't be able to include him in their squad list until January.

Teamtalk is a shit site. Not worth reading
It quotes good sources this time though:
“According to ESPN (as cited by Bolavip and Sport Witness).”

However, the article is about him definitely leaving Boca, not about his choice of us or Citeh.

His club and agent would be alarmingly dumb to sell him direct to Citeh, sell him to us and if he is the real deal get a much better payment later on via a sell-on clause

Doesn’t sound good for us…

If true, the boy (or more likely his agents) is a fool. We are the go to club for South American hyped up youngsters who want to play in the PL

Our scouting is so good that the big clubs are now seeing who we want and then hijacking the deals (Kendry Paez to Chelsea was another one like this). Hopefully some of the players we go after will realise coming to us first will be a better career path for them.

To be honest City youngsters who don't make the first team have had no problem moving on to other decent clubs and building careers in recent seasons. It's not a black hole for talent and I'm sure the payday for him is far better than what we can offer.

He'd get his chance here sooner, probably being slowly integrated this season with an eye to taking over following Pervis's inevitable sale. And at City there is already Lewis as the "up and coming" left back.

But if the kid backs himself to succeed I can see why he'd choose them for footballing reasons as well as monetary.

While the whole "clubs look at who's Brighton's scouting to sign players" thing is true, in this case Manchester City have been scouting Barco for longer than Brighton has
