I don't disagree with you, but everyone with school age children is already supposed to be doing this.

At the Amex the vast majority of the concourse servers seemed to be very young, as you'd expect if recruited via agency or the university. Plus on match day I've often seen a lot of our youth players hanging around.

If this comes in I suspect there will be no one to serve in the concourse,whether it's inside or out and a lot of the younger age group players will need to start going through Covid protocols.

I'm assuming that my son's twice weekly tests will suffice for him as, at age 14, he's not going to get a jab at all.

But, though I'm against the idea of the "passport" for football because of its practicalities, there is no excuse not to get vaccinated when your turn does come up. Being able to afford a smart phone doesn't matter and isn't relevant.

No, they haven’t. There is a global pandemic and they just happen to be that age at the moment. It’s circumstances and we can’t fail to protect society because we are worried about their ‘rights.’ Past generations were unfortunate enough to be young during wars or previous pandemics. It is what it is. I would still rather be 20 than 54 right now.

The fact is the young have nothing to fear from COVID but have to follow the rules to protect those that do. Morally it’s the only way. Yet this will cost a student 7k in accommodation costs that they won’t use and 9k on a course that isn’t fit for purpose. They will get nothing back because the government and uni’s can’t afford it. They regularly get a slating from the press, politicians and over the 50’s who they are ironically protecting. Now it would appear that as they are last on the list they will be the last back in society. TBH, I think most will get the first jab by then but it is taking the piss.

Perhaps I'm getting cynical in my old age but someone (not you) who has regularly posted anti-lockdown protest support on here suddenly coming out with "what if you can't afford a smart phone" sounds like someone who is getting their excuses in early.

There seems to be a hardcore who are both against restrictions and against means of removing restrictions. Which is a fundamentally odd position to take.

Happy to carry a covid "passport". Let's get this country up and running again. I'm fully vaccinated, have worked with vulnerable adults in a high Covid risk environment throughout the whole thing and I want to get my life back and start enjoying myself again. So yes, whatever, just get them done and let's go.

Boomer politics with no consideration for the young, who have been disproportionately affected throughout the pandemic and will continue to do so if this comes in.

I, like many, took this pandemic incredibly seriously and have followed the rules diligently. However now, the vaccines are clearly working and protecting those most vulnerable. It's time to get things moving back towards normality and vaccine passports are just not needed.

I agree about the uni fees and I do wonder why more didn’t defer this year. I’m not blaming them but the cost of uni does make me wonder whether it is worthwhile anymore and this year even more so.

I don't disagree with you, but everyone with school age children is already supposed to be doing this.

Only secondary children not all school age. And I've been doing 2 tests a week as have many of my colleagues since schools fully reopened and although it's not a pleasant exercise, it's really not that bad.

Couple of things.
Where does this put the 'one home game with fans' if the FA Cup final is the last test game, which takes place days before an expected round of mid week games with fans?

Unfortunately it seems to be part of a pattern over the last 30 years of the generation born between 1945 and around 1970 who continually pull the ladder up which they themselves have climbed up and done very well out of. From the assault on pensions and the spiralling of house prices through to Brexit and now this, it’s another action which disadvantages the young. Which is not, of course, to say it’s a conscious decision to act for that reason, nor does it mean people who like or support one element support every other element. But it’s part of an undeniable pattern of the young being screwed over time and again. It’s no coincidence this generation is the first in recent history to be worse off and have worse prospects than their parents.

Our family friends daughter 26 and her boyfriend 30 both worked hard, saved for 5-6 years and last week put a deposit down on a house. They made it work, by going to work.
