***NOMINATIONS NOW CLOSED***

Following on from the success of the UKCC24, I present to you;

The US Comedy Cup 2024 - NOMINATIONS THREAD

1707139936968.png

A 16-show tournament, so do what you can to make sure your preferred shows make the cut. Cartoons (Simpsons, Family Guy, Rick & Morty, Bob's Burgers etc) are allowed.

Everyone can NOMINATE 3 shows, and you can also SECOND 3 shows each.

I'll start.

I nominate;

Curb Your Enthusiasm
Flight of the Conchords (whilst the duo are from NZ, it was filmed in the US and the majority of the producing/directing is American)
The Simpsons

Would have seconded South Park but @Mellotron beat me to the punch. Matt & Trey are still putting out superb episodes and specials to this day. I'll also nominate:

BoJack Horseman (an absolutely underrated dark comedy, but probably my favourite US comedy series of the streaming era)
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Archer

Why don’t we go North American?

Trailer Park Boys is genius and deserves to compete with the US heavyweights.

Sorry, but I've seen what happens when you give a little in these tournaments - what about Australia? What about Ireland?

I have to nip this in the bud immediately. For one thing it would mean renaming the whole thing.

Are shows like The Simpsons and Friends simply too ubiquitous? Surely Homer will make it through?

9 have qualified. 7 spots remain.

Not a fan of US comedy on the whole, but M*A*S*H is truly in a class of its own.

Legendary.
I'm the same as you and didn't get into the more popular ones.
Two and a half men got me through weeknights when I had to live alone for three months in hotels seeing out my notice at a job while my family were living in Ireland.
Another one got me through a heavy depression and for that I put forward
