OK, this thread isn't for unusual songs per se, but songs you wouldn't expect a particular band to do but they did.

Here's my starters:

Osmonds - Crazy Horses.
Reason - shit band, great track!

[yt]yiNnDpIW918[/yt]

Boney M - Heart Of Gold
Reason - One of the most tacky disco bands ever covering one of Neil Young's greatest. What were they thinking. Oddly, it works. This is a GOOD version of the song.
[yt]47jiJBPYaU4[/yt]

Voice Of The Beehive - There's A Barbarian In The Back Of My Car
Reason - Voice of the Beehive were a rather twee American indie pop band. For some reason they let Zodiac Mindwarp write a song for them. This is the result. Typical VOTB it isn't. Awesome track - it is!

[yt]5ppXJwH0jIs[/yt]

"He's got his eyes on the horizon, he says I can ride his rocket
While telephone numbers are tumbling from his top pocket
Dream logic operator, he falls out of the car
He says 'I'll f*** you later now just get me to the bar' "

In a pile of football shirts
Lords of the New Church, Like a Virgin.
Great punk band, shite pop song, but sounds good by them.

Nice choices, suddenly reminded me of Brighton's finest punk band, Peter & the Test-Tube Babies' album "The Shit Factory", and entire album of Stock Aitken Waterman songs covered by them.

Good thread,

And for a really strange one here's Deep Purple doing their version of River deep Mountain high!

This one really suprised me and he does a good job of it too. Take a bow Adam Sandler, a male actor who can sing..

This is the way I hoped this thread would go. Some in there I'd nevfer heard before but I'm glad I have now. Never heard the Deep Purple or Alex Harvey tracks there before. Adam Sandler? Awesome track. As for Lords doing Like A Virgin. Hilarious.

Here's a few more from me:

GBH - It's Not Unusual - US punks play Tom Jones - can't find it on youtube!

Status Quo -Pictures of Matchstick Men. This wasn't really unusual for them when they released it, this is the sort of stuff that they did. Certainly different to the way most people see them now though.

...and to finish today off, the song I named by DJ and promoting business after:

Better than the original by Three Dog Night, Tom Jones and The Sterophonics absolutely nailed this one.

Stunning version.

British Sea Power's version of the Wurzels' 'I am a Cider Drinker'. It's actually ace - all spacey and psychedelic!

Mix The Righteous Brothers with Phil Spector, add a Vera Lynne classic and you get this, wonderful version.

I'm sure this has been done before (maybe even by me) but just in case there's ANYONE that hasn't seen it:

Russian Red Army Choir - Sweet Home Alabama

I am a massive Floyd fan and am ashamed to say that I really quite like this version by the Scissor Sisters ( who I generally don't like at all). Bee Gees do Floyd is how I think of it..
