I hope he is going to be charged for his accomodation, legal fees, travel expenses etc. Regardless of where he comes from, he is not fit or safe to be in our society (or in possession of testicles and a penis) and should not be entitled to compensation. It is cases like this that demonstrate how messed up our legal system really is and how divorced it has become from the people it is intended to protect and serve.

How about Algie is given the £50 000 to resolve this problem? I am sure he would do a more than satisfactory job. :)

What this guy done was completley and undoubtedly wrong yes, but people seem to be making a big deal out of the fact that this guy is an asylum seeker. What is the diference between an English person raping a girl and a failed asylum seeker? They are both equally as bad.

Im sure there are bad things that go on like this alot of the time unfortunatley. I wonder why the people are making a bigger deal than usual out of this? Mmm?:glare:

I dont dissagree that he perhaps should have been sent back whilst he was awiating trial.

The point - as far as I'm concerned anyway - is that this guy should NEVER get asylum in this country, and that should have been perfectly clear from day 1. So how on Earth have we allowed him to have appeal after appeal over many years, before we find ourself in this situation?

My dad tried to emigrate to Australia about 30 years back, and you had to prove to had a trade, or a skill that the country wants, or you don't get let in. They had enough train drivers, so we remained in Portslade. A friend of mine has had exactly the same issue recently, trying to get to South Africa, despite the fact that he's married to a South African, and is a well qualified man. his are not the qualifications they are short of so, his trips to SA are purely short-term and holidays to see his in-laws.

But here convicted rapists are still playing the friggin' system and staying on here for years. Because he's a filthy dirty scumsucking shit who gets his kicks from raping young girls, we have kept him off the streets. Don't exactly want him to be one of the disappearing thousands that Reid is trying to find

If we had a decent fast track system whereby day 1 we said "You are a child rapist, you have absolutely no chance of ever being granted asylum in this country" and promptly send him back to Somalia, then this would never happen.

The fact that rapists do get back out on the streets after a ridiculously short period of incarceration another issue, I would like to see early release only for rapist wo allow you to hack off their soft dangly bits first.

But in this case, the guys feet should never had touch the ground, before he was back from whence he came.

... and breathe.

In my computer
Bloody Home Office couldn't organise a fart in an elevator, yes allow the chap in as an assylum seeker - but as soon as he became a criminal he should have been frog marched back to Somalia...not stuck in a cell for 20 months and waffled on through appeals and paperwork, just get him the f**k out!!

Home Office are dreadful - I have personally experienced their utter trip, twaddle and time wasting efforts to the extreme!!

Worthing
You burden me with your questions
You'd have me tell no lies
You're always asking what it's all about
But don't listen to my replies
You say to me I don't talk enough
But when I do I'm a fool
These times I've spent, I've realized
I'm going to shoot through
And leave you

The things, you say
Your purple prose just gives you away
The things, you say
You're unbelievable

You burden me with your problems
By telling me more than mine
I'm always so concerned
With the way you say
You've always go to stop
To think of us being one
Is more than I ever know
But this time, I realize
I'm going to shoot through
And leave you

The things, you say
Your purple prose just gives you away
The things, you say
You're unbelievable

Seemingly lastless, don't mean
You can ask us
Pushing down the relative
Bringing out your higher self
Think of the fine times
Pushing down the better few
Instead of bringing out the clues
To what the world and everything anger to
Brace yourself with the grace of ease
I know this world ain't what it seems.

You burden me with your questions
You'd have me tell no lies
You're always asking what it's all about
But don't listen to my replies
You say to me I don't talk enough
But when I do I'm a fool
These times I've spent, I've realized
I'm going to shoot through
And leave you

The things, you say
Your purple prose just gives you away
The things, you say
It's why I love you more
The things, you say
Your purple prose just gives you away
The things, you say
You're unbelievable

You're so unbelievable

You're unbelievable

You're so unbelievable

You're unbelievable

Another kick in the f&*k^&g teeth for hard working people.

My brother has learning difficulties and becuase of this he cant get a job, and cant claim a single penny from this goverment, and then you get C&*nts like this who get everything.

Send the motherfu&*^r home and in the process get him to pay back all the money used in legal aid.

I'm sure £50,000 would go a long way towards helping your brother just like it would with my disabled brother and sister, Unfortunatly they dont seem to have the same human rights as a convicted rapist.

Only if you want it to be so, this post explains the issues at stake perfectly.

8 years is a long time to be locked in a cell

if he was illegally incarcerated beyond his sentence then he is entitled to compensation

the sort of mob rule or totalitarianism that would result from the wishes of NSC's illilberal wing is more worrying than this latest demonstration of how a civilised criminal justice system should operate

I was gonna say I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS. However I thought about it and its something you just come to expect from the STUPID (would have made this size 50 font if i knew how) HUMAN f***ing RIGHTS ACT!

So he's a convicted rapist with no legal right to be here, and its somehow unfair on him that we don't just let him roam the streets after his sentance has finished? Yes 20 months is a rediculiosly long time but a week of him being in prsion probably costs more than the flight back to Somalia so the authourities wouldn't have kept him in prison for the fun of it!

As others have said, the problem here is that he has the right to even apply for Asylum with that sort of conviction! The person getting paid minimum wage at the local government offices who recieves the application is qualified enough to tell him to stick his form up his arse and book him onto the next flight back!

It's likle the one recently where the blokes who did something like this admitted that in their own country they'd get stoned to death for it! Send the fucker home and I hope he is genuinely persecuted, had his chance and blew it!

He also said there had been a failure to consider releasing the man with an electronic tag, an option available since July 2005.
