The best way of avoiding war is to make potential enemies mutually dependent in economic terms. AS such war becomes redundant. On this basis, the EU (EEC etc) has been a huge sucess. I will gladly put up with a few stupid rules from Brussels in return for a much better chance of not being sent to be shot for politicians egos.

If you had bothered to read my post rather than gone all flusterblusterflobonthekeyboard, you would have noticed that I was saying that the previous poster has misrepresented the arguments being put forward.
And, just because the usual bunch of NSC fascists scream "hating foreigners and immigrants and blaming all of the country's woes on them does not equal racism" does not make it true.
Pasty, sorry to hear about your dad not getting his way, seems a pity that the council ignored his pleas.
I might add that I bought a house this big for a number of reasons, namely that if I did decide to set up home with someone at a later date I wouldn't need to move to find somewhere with more room. The other reason, possibly more likely, if the mortgage rate shot up then I am in a house where I could let a room without feeling crowded to help meet the payments.
