Silly old bat
If I'm not able to give a first hand account of my own experience then I have to rely on what others who i trust are telling me, as i would in any other situation in life as in in business or anywhere else.

You say it is a safe and nice place to visit, then ok your entitle to that opinion.
My children especially the female and her friends/work colleges do not feel safe around that area so don't go near it. It does not make them wrong.
You will excuse me if I value their opinion rather than yours.

You have mentioned that "what the park used to be like" ? what did it used to be like?

If your friends told you the West Pier was still open and worth visiting, would you believe them?

The Level has been completely transformed and is nothing like your friends are describing now.

:D:D Nothing like a bit of over the top drama, i'm sure sir albion has not stated anything remotely near this......still gave me a chuckle.

It seems another massive issue is the non EU migrants who're costing us billions every year as many of those are getting benefits and rarely work.

Ah, blind faith.

There are at least two others on this thread whom you're ignoring who - like me - visit the park reasonably frequently and enjoy being there. Why don't you value their opinion either?

It appears by your last sentence that you don't even know what it used to be like, let alone what it's like now. Why don't you - just as a really novel idea, no pressure or anything - find out for yourself what it's like?

Your post doesn't make sense. The only party which has even contemplated privatising the NHS is/was UKIP

where have you been living for the past few years
cleaning contracts private
overspill operations to private hospitals
and if you live in Eastbourne the closing of loads of departments there and transferred to the Conquest at Hastings
and your argument is defeated because UKIP at least are being honest about it, the tories are doing the usual sly way they normally do

I don't support or will ever vote UKIP I would just like to use them for a short while to get the tories out, see I'm a socialist and always will be and any way we can get rid of this load of cronies the better, you don't honestly think Ukip will last long do you?

Ok fair play, I will pop down and have a nose around and report back.

Likewise, how about you actually answer a question put to you without resorting to replying by ignoring it and asking another question.
I will if you will.

I assume you mean this question :

'You have mentioned that "what the park used to be like" ? what did it used to be like?' ?

If so then it was dark, dingy and full of drunks and drug addicts. The transformation is quite something and it is that very reason that shows your children haven't been there since the old days.

Thanks for spellings it out, again TLO was unable to do it. Preferring to play around instead.

It was ok in the 70' so not aware of it 'recent past', I guess it's a case of mud sticks so once it's got a reputation it's difficult for the area to gain back any credibility, is London Road being right next to it now ok then, that used to be a area for drug users to congregate.

Good grief!

You won't listen, will you?

Here's a challenge. I'd like people to give some thought to this question and name a single public open space anywhere in England that is as popular with families and as well used by folk of all ages as The Level.

London Road is 'OK'. The trendy North Laine is gradually working it's way up York Place but London Road is still inhabited by crap chav shops such as pound shops and charity shops. Some nice bars have popped up recently and more should happen now the students have started to move into the old Co-Op. The Open Market is OK but doesn't have the life or the size of the old one. Personally I think it needs pedestrianisation but I don't know what they would do with the buses.

Now I bet this post will shock The Large One because apparently I'm a moaning tosser !!!

Obviously. The question that arises is whether this realisation will sweep UKIP to power or - as has happened previously with UK political parties founded on racism - the bubble will burst.

The point I was making, as you well know, is that there are undoubtedly people voting UKIP who are racist , ( whatever that means, as the word is now banded about all too frequently) but that the vast majority of folk who vote for them are NOT -simply fearful of the future if what they perceive as excessive immigration is not checked. You always avoid this bit! By the way, I suspect that there are "racists" in all parties, and the same applies here -the majority are not and prefer a code of live and let live.

I suspect that most of these places (certainly all of the Sussex venues) fail to match The Level's popularity, in terms of visitor numbers.

the Level is a very small park with a pathway through it to a main road and market or was and when I lived round the corner it was full of drunks who constantly kicked their dogs and one another

I very much doubt The Level gets as many visitors as Stanmer. That said, The Level is very good.

When did you last visit it?

over 10 years ago but it must still be the main walking path between Lewes Road and London Road and I can tell you a lot of the drunks have emigrated to Eastbourne.
if I was going for a family day out it would always be Stanmer every time
