Didcot

Good call - Great Western Railway Centre redeems it a little - have the cooling towers come down yet?

Been residing in Didcot for the past 10 years. Not a bad place at all. Not on the tourist trail, but plenty to keep my interest, and CLOSE to a lot of quaint little villages. I've lost count of the number of beer and cricket festivals I've been able to reach by bicycle this summer.

I've family that live in Aston Trirrold. There's no doubting Didcot has improved over the years, but it's still a hole and that's coming from someone from Portslade.

Hastings on the list for me... as is Blackburn. Croydon should be on the list, the only improvement to that shit hole is the train station and it still looks crap...

Milton Keynes is fine..... its Bletchley thats the bad bit.

I work in Bletchley and can completely vouch for this. Horrible place, would never consider living there.

Milton Keynes is a great place to live though. Good range of bars and restaurants, massive shopping centre, largest casino in the country outside of London opening next week, plenty of cinemas, the theatre district, the indoor ski slope and sky-diving thing at Xscape, fast direct train links to London, Birmingham and Manchester .. It's a bland looking city yes, but there's always something to do, and very easy to get away if there isn't. Not a lot of crime either for such a large place, probably because it's so spread out.

Ugly: Middlesbrough, grey, oppressive place. Feels like the sky is going to fall on your head.

Boring: Dorchester. Nice looking place but nothing ever happens. Ever

Tunbridge Wells deserves a dishonourable mention for their councils seemingly systematic policy of pricing shops out of the town, leaving almost the entire walk from the station to the town center absolutely derelict. Not to mention the shopping centre that also seems to be losing it's trade to the industrial estate.

It's terrible what their council are doing to what has always been considered a pretty and interesting place.

People mentioning places like worthing need to get out more, the only place in Sussex that qualifies imo is Hastings.

In no particular order the worst places in my experience are, Mansfield, Merther Tydfil and Bowthorpe(Nr Norwich). There are plenty of rotten parts of London, the worst imo is Barking.

As for the title of pure boring rather than fearing for your life awful n ugly, I would say Leatherhead and Horsham. Maidenhead also is a place I'm always happy to leave.

I have travelled the length of this country and can confidently assert that there is NOWHERE in Sussex half as bad as those already mentioned like Luton or Birkenhead. Add to the list places like Newport in Wales, Rotherham, Warrington, Aston, Plymouth and Wrexham and we might have a list worth discussing.

Uckfield deserves a shout for the dullest town - its one of the dullest places in the county, if not the country !!

At least it has a cinema, which is more than most towns of its size.
