My assessment of the 3 headline bouts:

1) Bisping looked like he had cut too much weight and was looking like he was starting to gas even towards end of 1st round. Hendersons wrestling and general aggression was always going to be a problem and his boxing if not exactly pretty can be concussive. The only way Bisping might have won was a punch or kick that could have stunned Hendo and then a submission follow up. Even then Bisping's BJJ is not top class yet. As it was, and noted by commentators and his corner alike, Bisping bizarely thought it a good to cirle clockwise thereby inviting Hendo's right hand which he duly obliged. I didn't like Hendo's extra punch to Bisping's head when he was clearly out. Ref should have moved quicker and that does the image of the UFC no good for those who still wish to claim its a barbaric no rules cock fight.

2) Georges St Pierre totally nullified Alves's undoubted kicking and striking ability. GSP's wresting ability meant Alves was taken down to the mat at will and off his back Alves has no BJJ to worry GSP. Nice to note that Alves took his beating with far better grace than BJ Penn did. Difficult to see who the next credible opponent for GSP can be?

3) As anticipated the big oaf Lesnar just outmuscled Mir. Lesnar may only have one brain cell but that was always going to allow him to be wary of Mir's BBJ which caught him out in their first fight. Once he is on top of you and cramped your space with theat power there is just no room to bring teh BBJ into play. The only guy who might beat him will have to be another freakishly huge dude who could match his power and perhaps have some BBJ. Couture of 5/6 years ago might just have had a chance but when they fought last year Randy looked chinny as soon as Lesnar connected.Come on Dana Whire sign up Fedor Emelienko now or the heavy weight division will stagnate. And of course Lesnar's antics after the bell showed a true lack of class that does MMA no favours.

Can't disagree with any of that -good post.

I must say, come 6am on Sunday morning I was left feeling slightly dissilusioned with MMA ( particularly the UFC). Brock is an absolute bell-end and the sooner someone gets that belt off him the better. And Dan didn't win any new fans other than some Frat boy meatheads.

Can wait for Affliction trilogy, good card and I think fedor v Barnett is going to be more difficult for Emilianenko than many think.

What do you see next for Bisping? There's talk of Wanderlei Silva , but I think the outcome would be the same as Sunday morning. Anderson Silva would be a mauling. Dana will still want him to be the poster boy for British MMA as the two TUF winners nowhere near ready yet and Hardy is still a little raw, so I imagine he will get a very winable opponent next.

Did you see the prelims? Coleman is an absolute warrior! I also can't wait to see the development of Jones too, he is such an exciting prospect.
