What would the FA do if two Championship sides got to the final of the FA Cup this year?

Would they let the winners into UEFA Cup next year?

Although Cardiff won't be able to represent England should they win it.

Not sure that's correct. They can't represent Wales in Europe because of their English league status can they, but I'm pretty sure that means that they would be able to qualify through England.

i dont think they can qualify for the Champions League through the League of Wales cup, which they compete in, but i they would be eligable for the UEFA Cup through the FA cup or the CL through the Premiership.

I thought that since Millwall EUFA have brought ina rule which stipulates thatany team entering the EUIFA Cup must be in their countries top division, but I may be wrong. I do not think that a team from The Championship should be allowed to take part in Eurpoean competitions.

I'm pretty sure Cardiff (or any other Welsh team) can't represent England in Europe. Fifa brought that rule in when the Welsh Premier League was set up about 15 years ago, but of course it has never been tested, so who knows what will happen there.

And teams from lower leagues can definitely enter European competitions, as quite a few clubs from other countires have this season. The only rule brought in like that is that a team in the Intertoto Cup can't be in the lowere leagues.

So how have Monaco ever qualified for European tournaments? They play in the French league but are technically a country!

Cardiff City used to get into the European Cup Winners' Cup by virtue of winning the Welsh Cup - something Hereford and Shrewsbury were not allowed to do when they won it.

The rule about the Cup Winners being allowed into the UEFA Cup provided they were in the top division only applies to the League Cup.

I think any team that wins a cup with a place in the UEFA cup as reward should be allowed to compete, doesnt matter if its Man U or Rochdale, If they win then its their reward

But when it comes to a team winning that is in a different country then this may not be the case. I'm not sure how many teams in Europe play in a different country to where they are actually based (Berwick, Cardiff, Wrexham, Swansea to name but four) and yes I know that the Welsh trio are in the Football League and not just the English League. I think UEFA need to clarify the situation in case Cardiff win the cup!

AS Monaco, Derry City and Vaduz are, I believe, the only teams that play in a league from a country they are not located in to qualify for Europe in the past.

edit: seems Vaduz actually enter using the Lichenstien Cup, so its just Derry and Monaco then.

Why would it make any difference to the amount of teams allowed to enter? Im not sure how it works so forgive me ignorance.

If they do so atrociously that they bring down the co-efficient of the League, you could drop down the rankings far enough to lose a place - countries are not given places on sheer size but on the perceived quality of their league in Europe.
