UK Athletics plans Twenty20 Style Competion

What does everyone think?? I love Athletics and it all sounds very exciting to me. Some great evenings to be had at Athletics stadiums up and down the country from next summer.

:clap2:

I like the idea of this format - I would be too impatient to spend a whole day watching atletics. Sticking it all into 2 hours could work.

I like the idea of this. Will also make it easier to sell to TV, thus bringing more money into the sport.

I have always thought that more widespread team competitions would be exciting in athletics. I think it sounds like a good idea. It is likely that the short format would appeal to Sky or Setanta meaning that there should be a decent amount of prize money to attract the 2 overseas "stars" that each franchise would be allowed.

So will they have the javelin and hammer events the same time as the 1500 metres, now that would be like Its a Knockout back on the screens

I would guess:

Newcastle/Gateshead
Manchester
Birmingham
Liverpool
London
Brighton?
Cardiff
Glasgow

Remove Brighton and add Sheffield and you're not far wrong with that list.
